I see nothing in our game plan that Dimma has changed it up.
It looked like Dimma planned for us to sit back and play on the counter to use a Soccer analogy. Problem was we butchered the ball all night and gave the footy back too easily with Collingwood players in free space. With the Pies controlling the ball all night we used a lot of energy chasing tail and faded badly in the end.

There was a lot worse than Ellis out there tonight.
Weller-not sure what we were thinking there
Markoff-could he work as a forward?
Lambert-is he fit, he doesn't seem to be racking up the kms like we know he can. You'd drop him for Miles if we still had Miles
Butler-has to be dropped, would drop him for Lloyd if we still had Lloyd
Hardwick-wins the Danny Frawley award for bombing it long to full forward for the whole game.

We got problems big midfield problems.

I think a lot of us knew this and we did not do much to rectify the issue

It was noticeable towards back end of 2018 clearances were big issue.

The form or lack of it of Dusty, Lambert and Prestia has exposed the lack of depth even more.

Nank was well beaten too by Grundy.

Agree! Someone said that our midfield is an issue? That is 100%!

Lack of spread!

If you can hold the ball vs Tigers....you win.
Our entire forward pressure was undone by the Pies holding the ball with short kicks or switching play. Add ruck dominance at the centre clearance and you have an arse pumping on a platter
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

No pressure all game, giving away loads of space. It's a shame our coaching staff didn't address this at quarter time. Especially painful watching Sidebottom running around for half the night unchecked again until KMac went to him.

Lots of poor players tonight, but some have credits in the bank. Sorry Assange but I agree that Ellis has well and truly run out of chances - squibs it repeatedly and has long since lost the kicking penetration he had as a kid, years ago.

Out:
Weller (thought we was depth only?)
Markov (not up to it, period)
Ellis (squib, trade)
Grimes (probably suspended)
Riewoldt (probably hairline # in wrist)

In:
Balta
Garthwaite
Chol
Ross
RCD

Time to blood some youth and find some midfield depth...

On a side note, big shame we didn't play Lloyd and Miles more in 2018 when we were clearly running out of puff... They'd sure be handy right about now!

One of the most disappointing thongs for mome tonight was the finger pointing when something went wrong early in our defensive 50.

It happened 3 times in the first qtr, with one bloke doing the pointing twice after he had stuffed up.

No excuse for that

As for the MIAs

If anyone comes across Rioli, Butler, Lambert, Astbury to name a few can you please point them towards Punt Road Oval for match review tomorrow morning

You could see in our two victories last year that Collingwood had the potential to trouble is.

Now they have gone past us.

The Pies have moved on from copying us, to copying the Eagles possession game. Buckley is a genius.

We rely too much on pressure.  Pies didn’t allow us to play that and on days we don’t bring pressure we fail.  Need to invest in more skilful players.

Stop recruiting based on how well they pressure, start recruiting talent
