Labuschage averaging 85 since he came back into the team in England (6 50s & 4 tons) and averaging 125 in Australia this summer (just one sub-50 score and 4 tons).

The only thing missing from his Bradman-esque run is a 200+ score. He's got a chance for that tomorrow.

And he’s been dismissed once run out pushing for quick runs, and once off a ricochet off his elbow

What he’s done has been freakish

All over. NZ only made 136. Lyon with a 5-for in both innings.

Labuschagne (896 runs) was just nine runs short of Hammond's 91-year record for most runs in a 5-test Aussie summer.

Personally I thought Lyon was MOM. Marnus MOS.

Not an overly enthralling summer of cricket. 5 tests all won within 4 days. I don't think the team is that good - the opposition was just very poor. Pakistan clearly out of their depth unless they're playing subcontinent. NZ probably don't deserve their no. 2 test ranking either.

In fact I don't think test cricket is going very well for any of the countries I genuinely enjoy seeing us play - SA, ENG, WI and NZ.

Only India really seems to be in a purple patch but I hate subcontinent games.

I agree the opposition has been poor and outside of India the other test cricket nations have gone backwards in terms of batting but still our current bowling attack is close to the best in the world at the minute. The Kiwis came into this series having won something like 7 of their past 8 test series and our bowlers on our pitches made them look like a park side. India is really the only test (excuse the pun) for us these days here in Australia. A shame they weren't touring here this summer rather than 12 months ago when we were still affected by the tampering scandal.

Just wish they had the courage to agree to a 5 test series rather than just a 4 test series

Only because they're too gutless to expose their batsmen to both the Brisbane & Perth wickets in the same series and consider themselves too big and important to play test matches at minor venues like Hobart or Canberra.... :shh

Certainly the former. I would say the latter is somewhat related to the fact they don't get much support when playing outside Melb/Syd/Adel (lot of expats still get around em).

But a huge asterisks on their last tour because they A) Didn't play the Gabba test and B) Dictated to CA about how the series would be scheduled, no day/night tests etc.

Having said that, I wish CA would show some backbone and tell him "this is how it will play out. You're welcome to stuff off and tour Bangladesh again if you're not willing to sign on".

It doesn't help the ICC is a toothless tiger and CA doesn't want to miss out on the $$$ if the Indians have a hissy fit and literally take their bat and ball home.

We lost the second one-dayer by 36 runs.

Next time, Finchy, bat first on a flat pitch.
