Not so. Young fit people without any of the pre illness conditions are reportedly likely not to have much of a concern.

Older people over 70 and with existing illnesses make up the bulk of deaths. Death rate in this group is over 20%.

But if you can be re-infected it is not an option.

England is going about this in a completely different way. They have quarantined all older people and are willing to let the virus work its way through the younger population.

Time will tell if they are right

If the infection rate is 2-3 people per case, and you are intentionally infection up to 1,000 young males, then they will infect a further 2-3,000 people in general - which will result in probably 50-odd deaths most of which will likely be older people.

Fwiw I am basically on the front line as a nurse unit manager in a hospital run by the largest health provider in the state!

The feds may decide what happens next for the AFL. Talk of reducing mass gatherings further to <100.

The AFL will wait until Wednesday to make a decision on whether round one goes ahead as planned amid ongoing uncertainty surrounding the coronavirus crisis, as the players push for a full home-and-away campaign of 22 matches per club.

"The players want to play, the players will do everything they can," Mr Marsh said.

"They still have optimism of a 22-game season here.

"We've got a 40-week window and players will make sacrifices around scheduling and leave, and everything else to try to give the industry a chance of surviving this or getting through this."

Won't/shouldn't happen.

They should push the season back 2 months and cut to 17 rounds with no bye - try to finish things up in Oct/Nov instead of Sept. But even that would be optimistic IMO.

Exactly. Do it properly > lockdown.

I want my footy season as much as anyone but pushing to continue at the moment is absurd, and from the AFL + player's perspective is 100% driven by money.

all for the lockdown, to end this charade, but as it stands right now there isnt one so why not play on.

I find it quite funny that we are trying to lock down this and lock down that and on saturday i was a bar with 300 people in it.

Italy are a good example of what not to do and thats just delay the inevitable, but trying to plug holes. Go hard lock us up or shut the stuff up
