The best thing about his game was the 9 tackles... :shh

I was surprised when  I read that TBH

Best game he's played

But that is standard now.

I thought he was solid off the ball. Cracked in and was laying some good tackles.

He's disposal is not great.
The club that keeps giving.

Nick Riewoldt on Ch 7 singled out Dow in the third quarter as the moment he thought we weren't willing to compete. Dow on the wing went one-handed at the loose ball and ran over it, followed by a one-handed mistackle, followed by jogging behind the ball and not chasing as Melbourne worked their way inside their F50.

ps. I can think of a fair few more similar woeful moments by a number of Tigers tonight.

Cant believe im gunna say it but credit to him. he has been half decent this year but imo role players need to be upgraded. He does not have the tools to be kept long term.

What does that say about the players he has been better than. The likes of Ross and McIntosh in particular.

Good game by his standards and that's the problem right there :shh.

Thought he played okay particularly in first half. Given the number of games he has been given that should be the norm

Dow stocks surging this season

This season, Dow has taken another significant step in his AFL career.

He is averaging 20.6 disposals, 7.7 contested possessions, 4.0 marks, 3.1 tackles, 3.6 clearances, 3.6 score involvements and 181 metres gained per match.

Five times he has racked up 20 disposals or more in a game, which is an impressive achievement, especially when you consider he had managed that only seven times all-up before this season.

Dow produced the best performance of his 41-game career at senior level with Richmond in the blockbuster Anzac Day Eve match against Melbourne at the MCG.

He had a team-high/AFL career-high 28 disposals, seven contested possessions, AFL career-high 20 uncontested possessions, AFL career-high 21 effective disposals, AFL career-high seven marks, equal AFL career-high seven intercepts, three tackles and 266 metres gained.

Actually thought he was easily in our best 3

Yep got some of standard poor efforts eg some nip 2nd efforts but overall reckon it was close to his best game

Just wish he would bring it every week

0 tackles in 3 of his last 4 games as an inside mid and just keeps getting worse.Disposal is comically bad.Has a nice side step but it never amounts to anything because he just butchers the ball or sells a teammate into trouble. Hopefully being subbed out was a sign that even Yze's finally had enough of The Great White JON experiment.  :shh

Yes his disposal is putrid. Also when he gets the time and space for a kick, whether by chance or a free kick or whatever, he looks so unsure and unnatural

Surely the fact he was subbed out ahead of kmac2 is a telling sign.

He hasn’t been afl standard on a consistent basis and I worry that sometimes he’s a bit conditional with his effort but the reality is that his standard is about where we are at.
I don’t think there’s anyone who is leaping frogging him for his spot just yet.
Kmac 2 is still working it out, Sonsie isn’t good enough and we need to see a hell of a lot more of Smillie before he gets a go in the midfield
"The money might have been better. But, at the end of the day, Richmond showed faith in me. It's only fair that now we're 18th on the ladder, I show the faith back in the club and do everything I can to put them in front. In the end, I'm stoked I made the decision to stay. I f***ing love this club”

I think if Sonsie as given a fair go in the middle to see where he is at that would be good.

HRT how have you determined Sonise isn’t good enough? Dominates the midfield VFL level more then dow does and hasn’t got 5% of the opportunity at AFL that Dow has been afforded. I’m not even going to disagree with you about it but I’m not sure how you can give dow a pass while definitively stating Sonsie isn’t at the level.
