Richmond insists midfielder/forward Jack Higgins is yet to request a trade, with the Tigers maintaining plans to keep him at the club in 2021.

Higgins holds a contract with the Tigers for next season but has been linked with a move from Punt Road after being limited to 10 games this year.

St Kilda confirmed its interest in Higgins on Thursday, but conceded talks around the 21-year-old were at preliminary stages.

"No, he hasn't (requested a trade)," Richmond general manager of talent Blair Hartley told ABC's Corbin and Ben on Thursday.

Love the wishful thinking on here.

Trade value is based on market value not best case scenario for players

A pick between 30-40 will be about the mark i reckon.

Not really market value when he’s a contracted player. Club holds the cards.

Also why has his market value dropped from 17 to 30-40 in 3 years?

Especially in a crap/difficult draft.

I don't subscribe to the 'fringe players are worth nothing' mentality.

Some people think if you aren't playing 15-20+ games/year then you may as well be delisted I guess.

On that theory was Jack Watts still worth pick 1 when traded to Poort Adelaide?

Jack watts got traded after 9 seasons with Melbourne in a team that wasn’t close to achieving anything with no competition for his spot. Even then he still got traded for pick 31.

Saints getting a bit greedy and I think all the press praise is going to their head thinking they can get our contracted players.
They would want to be offering a first rounder for Jack otherwise tell them to GGF.  Will take next years for him.

Saints got Butler for pick 60ish last year - a premiership player.

Can't blame them for thinking Higgo might come cheap based on that.

Saints ain't getting Higgo without paying market value plus a bonus for giving them Butler (AA squad) for free.  1st rounder minimum

He's worth pick 25-35 or so.

Surprised (not really) he was getting as many games as he did even before his health troubles. Best of luck to him though, should play 100 games at this level for a modest side & he seems like a nice enough kid

Some wanted to get rid of Kamdyn last year too.  Played the best footy of his career.
Jack is 21 years old.  If Jye Caldwell is worth a 1st so is Jack, particularly whilst contracted.
Anyway, he hasn't asked for a trade and we want to keep him so all this is moot.  Hope he proves the doubters wrong next year.

Not sure where you get the idea anybody wants to get rid of him.

He wants to leave for more opportunity.

Club want to keep him but if he does choose to leave the conversation is about what is the best compensation.

Realistic compo not Dodoro type demands.

Keep him unless we get  decent pick, there are more clubs than St Kilda looking at him, so don’t be surprised if an offer comes from elsewhere
I think he can become a Neale type. Apart from and due to his surgery he lost fitness  which he needs to be  top player

St Kilda don't want to pay much for Higgins according to SEN just now.

Mind you it took them 5 minutes to realise it's Jack Higgins and not Jack Graham :facepalm.

Tigers won't give up Higgins easily

Richmond is keen to retain skilful half-forward Jack Higgins but would likely broker a trade if he declared he wanted to be a St Kilda player.

The Saints have declared they have an interest in the versatile Richmond mid-forward but are yet to receive a trade request from the No.17 pick in the 2017 national draft.

The Tigers believe Higgins will continue to improve given his pace and raw talent as he continues to blend his instinctive football with an understanding of the team system.

But they are in a position where they would not block a request if he decided he wanted to move elsewhere.

He has played 43 games in three seasons despite undergoing brain surgery last year, including 10 this year on his way back from that complicated procedure.

Jack Higgins is yet to request a trade.

Richmond seems certain to secure father-son recruit Maurice Rioli Jr in December’s draft to add to their stock of busy pressuring forwards.

But the Tigers believe there is no reason Higgins, 21, can't break into the midfield and command a starring role next year or continue as a clever half-forward.

St Kilda has pick 17 and then 64 and 77 as its next picks, so would need to find a selection in between if it did trade for Higgins.

Saints footy boss Simon Lethlean said the club had engaged in talks with Higgins’ manager.

“We’ve only had discussions at the early stages that we are keen on Jack as a player,” he told SEN.

“But he’s contracted and hasn’t given any significant indication to us or to the Tigers that he wants to come to the Saints.

“There’s a lot of speculation about that one, but given he’s under contract that’s really with the Tigers to consider. That’s very early days that one.

“We’ve had discussions with his management, but it’s not at the stage where he’s told the Tigers he wants to leave.

“He’s under contract and I think he’s a pretty well regarded player at the club. So the speculation is further down the road than the conversations
