Sam Edmund on SEN:

Deal hasn't been done yet but it will be by tomorrow. Specifics to be thrashed out.

Deal will involve 2nd round picks, future 2nd rounders and a swap of late picks.

Saints won't give up their 1st rounder.

Callers to SEN:

Higgins worth an equivalent pick to the first rounder Richmond drafted him with. Has played 75% of possible games since he was drafted barring the brain injury.

If Caldwell is worth a 1st rounder then Higgins definitely is.

If not a 1st rounder then Richmond should keep Higgins and if he stills wants out next year then agree to facilitate a move to the club of his choosing.

I agree with this.

I wonder whether Blair Hartley will channel Kevin Costner in Draft Day and call James Gallagher a Pancake Eating MUFU.   I want my pick for Dan Butler back!!

I'd like to see us get involved in some multi trade scenario and upgrade a pick/s

Sam Edmund again on SEN:

Butler trade last year having an affect on the Higgins negotiations.

Both clubs see Higgins future upside as being huge.

Saints want to remain in the first round. They are refusing to give up a first round pick. So they either move along first round or bring in a third party.

Edmund repeated he expects the deal to involve 2nd round picks, future 2nd rounds picks as well as a swap of late picks similar to the Saad deal.

AFL Exchange boys saying Saints should relent and offer first rounder for JH. Probably a future.

With pending list reductions and a supposedly stronger draft that will hopefully feature players with exposed form (and likely a few quality left overs from this year who would've been picked up or draft bolters had they played), a future first would probably be ideal...would also give us currency if we decide to target a free agent - of which there will be a bumper crop next year.... :shh

Agree. Reckon it would be nice if we could access a key forward in next year’s Free Agency

Something like adding Lonie and the Dogs into the trade equation to upgrade to the Dogs' first rounder?

Tigers
In:   Dogs' Pick 14 & Saints' future 2nd
Out: Higgins and Pick 21

Saints
In:   Higgins & Dogs' pick 41
Out: Lonie & a future 2nd

Dogs
In:   Pick 21 & Lonie
Out: Pick 14 & Pick 41

Throw in late pick swaps as well if need be.

Looks like we have to wait until after 3 pm tomorrow to get this done.
Just keep him, honor his contract.

If Higgins wants to go it seems to be a fair trade

Tigers have not accepted Saints' offer for Higgins

By Jake Niall

St Kilda have offered a future second-round pick for Richmond's Jack Higgins.

As yet, Richmond have not accepted, according to sources familiar with the situation.

Club are prepared to honour his contract

They didn't shop him around, he has asked for a trade, he wants to leave.

If he wants to go then get a deal done that favours us.
