As long as he isn't another flanker type that shirks or can't win his own ball in the contest like a Ben Lennon, Corey Ellis or Reece Conca. We haven't done well in the past with drafting flankers in the first round  .

Nup. Jarrod Berry and his brothers are from Horsham while Sam Berry is from Gippsland.

They might take a punt on Kaine Baldwin, with the South Australian tearing another ACL in 2020 - his second in as many years. The 193cm tall was an All-Australian in his Under 16 year, but clubs will have very little information to go off if they are to select him. With a hole opening up inside 50 given Jack Riewoldt’s career being close to finishing, the Tigers might well look at Baldwin as the perfect option to develop under the star veteran and form a partnership with Tom Lynch for the future.

Poor kid to have done two ACLs but IMO that makes him more a rookie pick even if he is the type of player we would be keen on. Harsh to say but more often than not two ACLs is footy career ending.



Wonder if our WA scouts are showing interested in Lachlan Vanirsen?

Having accepted his Jack Clarke Medal award earlier in the week as the fairest and best player in the colts competition for 2020, Lachlan Vanirsen is now the Mel Whinnen Medal winner as well after a brilliant Grand Final performance.

He finished with 32 possessions, 11 marks, five tackles and a goal to be judged best afield in the 59-point triumph for Subiaco.

I'd say Lennon's the most relevant comparison out of those three and he's supposedly very quick and agile where as Benny boy was painfully slow and not very agile...

18. Finlay Macrae

Clubs: Oakleigh Chargers/Vic Metro

Position: Midfielder

Size: 186cm/78kg

Bio: The Macrae name is certainly familiar, given Finlay’s older brother is Western Bulldogs star Jack. He’s a well balanced midfielder who accumulates the ball and disposes of it exceptionally well, making him someone you want to have the ball in their hands. While he doesn’t have breakaway speed, his decision making makes up for that when he’s around opponents. Macrae has a great endurance base and is very competitive.

19. Jack Carroll

Clubs: East Fremantle/Western Australia

Position: Midfielder

Size: 187cm/79kg

Bio: The 17-year-old can play a number of different roles given his feats playing across half back and in the midfield over recent years. After a full season of WAFL Colts footy, Carroll has lifted his prospects and averaged 23.1 disposals, using it reasonably well off his left boot. He also averaged 14.6 contested possessions, indicating he isn’t afraid to win his own ball.

20. Tom Powell

Clubs: Sturt/South Australia

Position: Midfielder

Size: 183cm/74kg

Bio: Powell has hardly put a foot wrong this year as he racked up disposal after disposal. His work at the stoppages is very good where he looks to find a teammate by hand. Powell’s footy IQ is elite, making him one of the smarter players through the middle. For Sturt this season, Powell averaged 157 Champion Data ranking points, 34.1 disposals and 8.4 clearances. He claimed the league’s McCallum Tomkins Medal after a starring year.

I'm not sure why we would go that way unless he is by far the best player left at that pick.

With another flag in the bag, things are looking rosy at Tigerland. With the recent news that Maurice Rioli Junior has nominated Richmond as his club of choice, excitement levels amongst the Tiger Army have reached fever pitch.

The son of a gun possesses the same bag of tricks as his father, so those that bore witness to Maurice Senior’s early eighties exploits, expect a repeat dosage from his offspring.

With ties to both Essendon and Fremantle, expect an early bid to be matched from the Tigers to secure the electrifying talent’s services.

Whether or not Daniel Rioli will vacate the number 17 guernsey and allow his cousin to follow in his father’s footsteps is still yet to be determined.

BAILEY LAURIE (OAKLEIGH CHARGERS)

Forward/midfielder/defender, 180cm, 75kg

Some recruiters are very bullish about Laurie, one believing he would be very high on the hit-lists of all 18 AFL clubs. Once a grunt midfielder in his earlier junior playing days, Laurie has developed into a multifaceted player who performed strongly as a high half-forward and midfielder for the Chargers last season.

He is considered to be a natural footballer who just “gets it” and is continuing to develop athletically. It’s his touch that is his X-Factor, though, as well as his ability to read the play and execute skills with class. Across seven NAB League games last year, Laurie averaged 15.3 disposals at elite efficiency of 76.6 per cent, as well as 3.1 marks, 3.6 tackles and 90 SuperCoach ranking points. He also kicked six goals, including two in the NAB League Grand Final.
