Best 22 for 2021?
« on: November 16, 2020, 03:12:50 PM »
Foxfooty.com.au predicts your club’s best 22 for next season.

RICHMOND

B: David Astbury, Dylan Grimes, Noah Balta

HB: Liam Baker, Nick Vlastuin, Bachar Houli

C: Kamdyn McIntosh, Dion Prestia, Marlion Pickett

HF: Kane Lambert, Jason Castagna, Dustin Martin

F: Tom Lynch, Jack Riewoldt, Daniel Rioli

FOLL: Toby Nankervis, Shane Edwards, Trent Cotchin

I/C: Jack Graham, Shai Bolton, Jayden Short, Nathan Broad

In: Nil

Out: Luke English, Fraser Turner, Oleg Markov, Jack Higgins

We say: When you’ve won three premierships in the space of four years, it’s fair to say the Tigers have a strong group of players to call upon. Other than Alex Rance, no big name has elected to leave the club, with a number of players outside the club’s best 22 hunting opportunity at other clubs. Oleg Markov and Jack Higgins both played throughout 2020, but missed out on the Grand Final, with the pair seeking opportunity at the Suns and Saints respectively. With no glaring holes, Richmond hasn’t brought anyone in over the off-season and will be able to pick up father-son Maurice Rioli Jnr in the draft.

Yes, hard to replace these premiership stars but really need some of the young up and comers to force a few into the 2's.  This is controversial.

B: Jayden Short, Dylan Grimes, Noah Balta

HB: Liam Baker, Nick Vlastuin, Nathan Broad

C: Riley Collier Dawkins, Dion Prestia, Jack Ross

HF: Kane Lambert,  Jack Reiwoldt,  Dustin Martin

F: Hugo Ralpsmith, Tom Lynch,  Daniel Rioli

FOLL: Toby Nankervis, Shane Edwards, Trent Cotchin

I/C: Jack Graham, Shai Bolton, Dave Astbury, Kamdyn McIntosh

Out Pickett, Castagna, Houli
In Ralphsmith, Ross, Dawkins

You would hate to be a young player at Tigerland, looking at this it's no wonder Higgins left to go to Saints. We are still quite young.

Neither RCD or Ross are wingers. Atleast put Mcintosh in one of their spots considering he’s the only true wingman in that side not to mention the excellent year he had.

Traditional team sheets and positions are a thing of the past highlighted by Castagna at CHF & NV at CHB
Think of them more as part of the midfield rotation.

History says there will be at least 3+ changes to that side if we do the three-peat.

2017 -> 2019
In: Baker, Bolton, Lynch (FA), Pickett, Short, Soldo.
Out: Butler, Graham (inj), Grigg (ret.), McIntosh, Rance (inj), Townsend.

2019 -> 2020
In: Balta, Graham, McIntosh.
Out: Caddy, Ellis (traded), Soldo (inj).

Lynch & Pickett were the only newbies to come into a past premiership team. The rest were already on our list.

So the question is who on our list now will step up next year to replace any injuries or drops off in form?

Obviously, we're hoping a few of our cubs RCD, Ross, CCJ, Stack, Miller, Martyn, Cumberland (post-ACL) will do so. Then there's the query whether Soldo will be okay after his ACL to return late in the season and if Caddy can do a Kmac and revitalise his career.

Let's hope so, taz.

I should have just used "etc". I left out Hugo, Aarts, Chol, DES and Biggie as well.

Who makes it, who's unlucky: Your club's best 22 in 2021

afl.com.au
21 November 2020

RICHMOND

Why mess with what works? The Tigers are a strong chance to become the first premiership side to play together after a flag, with traded players Oleg Markov and Jack Higgins not having been in the 22. Richmond didn't bring in any new players over the Trade Period, and Ivan Soldo will be out for most, if not all, of 2021 with a torn ACL. The only addition is Patrick Naish as an emergency – who has the capability to play off half-back – taking the spot of Markov. Jack Ross, Thomson Dow and Riley Collier-Dawkins wait in the wings beyond the 26. – Sarah Black

B: David Astbury, Dylan Grimes, Noah Balta
HB: Nick Vlastuin, Bachar Houli, Jayden Short
C: Kamdyn McIntosh, Dion Prestia, Marlion Pickett

I/C: Shai Bolton, Liam Baker, Nathan Broad, Jack Graham

Emerg: Josh Caddy, Mabior Chol, Jake Aarts, Patrick Naish

Foxsports predicts our best 22 after the draft
=============================

RICHMOND

B: David Astbury, Dylan Grimes, Noah Balta

HB: Jayden Short, Nick Vlastuin, Bachar Houli

C: Kamdyn McIntosh, Dion Prestia, Shai Bolton

HF: Kane Lambert, Jack Riewoldt, Dustin Martin

F: Jason Castagna, Tom Lynch, Daniel Rioli

FOLL: Toby Nankervis, Shane Edwards, Trent Cotchin

I/C: Jack Graham, Marlion Pickett, Liam Baker, Nathan Broad

In: Samson Ryan, Maurice Rioli

Out: Luke English, Fraser Turner, Oleg Markov, Jack Higgins

We say: Don’t expect too many changes to the reigning premiers’ best 22, especially considering no big name has elected to leave the club during the off-season. Oleg Markov and Jack Higgins both played throughout 2020, but missed out on the Grand Final, with the pair seeking opportunity at the Suns and Saints respectively.

RICHMOND

B:   Dylan Grimes, Noah Balta, Jayden Short

HB:   Nick Vlastuin, David Astbury, Nathan Broad

C:   Kamdyn McIntosh, Jack Graham, Thomson Dow

HF:  Shai Bolton, Tom Lynch,  Jack Ross

F:   Dustin Martin, Callum Coleman-Jones, Kane Lambert

FOLL:   Toby Nankervis, Trent Cotchin, Dion Prestia

I/C:   Shane Edwards, Liam Baker, Sydney Stack, Riley Collier-Dawkins

Dow comes in for Pickett. Ross for Rioli, RCD for Castagna, CCJ for Riewoldt and Stack for Houli.
You would hope that the newbie's have a bit more desire than their replacements who are dropping due to injury, age and form.

We hardly participated in anything off season so it has to come from within. We wont be winning another premiership if it is basically the same team going around.
It was similar in 2019 so we really need the younger blokes to step up.
As far as evolution goes we are stagnating apart from the odd player or two.We really do need the team to evolve i would love to see some of the role players and fmd there is a lot of them replaced by more skillful better rounded players.

Even our B/F Short. He is excruciatingly outside who performs a role he is never going to take a game by the throat he relies on his team mates to a very large degree to impact games.

We really need the next Martin or Cotchin Riewoldt to start demanding games but the question really is do we even have em on the list.
