Long way to go with Ryan. Under 25yo rucks in AFL are uncompetitive in 99% of cases. Still time to develop.

He did work hard and basically rucked all day. For me he doesn't seem to have it to step it up to the next level. Hope I am wrong as rucks do take time. Would be we knock his effort though.

Im all for persevering. But saying that the concern remains is he half ruckman half fwd but not quite either.

Journo: Is this the week you look at Samson Ryan helping out in the ruck?

Dimma: Yeah, definitely! He's well and truly in the equation. He's been in really good form at VFL level. We've been really happy with what he has been able to produce. The possibility of him going up against one of the best ruckman in the modern era in Todd Goldstein is exciting and overwhelming at the same time. He's such a combative person. They've also got CJ which we know pretty well. It will be a challenge if he is selected but he certainly has put his hand up.

His improvement is very impressive

The positive this year is that he is taking the vfl by scruff of the neck. Has filled the void of CCP which is pretty impressive considering where he was at. The key is continue that development to get a senior gig and then more. Fingers crossed.
