I think we can all agree that one attribute the next recruiter simply must have is 20/20 hindsight.

I'd settle for 10/20 foresight, given that our recent recruiting has been below par IMO.

I supported the recruitment of TT + JH but our drafting and/or development of late has been mediocre.

In hindsight the police detective should have checked the alibi of the prime suspect.

In hindsight the mechanic should have checked the engine had oil.

In hindsight the electrician should have isolated the power before disconnecting the oven.

In hindsight the actor should have memorised his lines before the play.

What is Blair’s job again?  :rollin

Maybe im missing it but i dont get the angst with Nankervis.Everyone loved him when we were winning games and now lose games and he is blamed when his game has hardly changed since he arrived.

Samson well clearly undersized and under strength but doing okay. They need to lock him in a room with a beef carcass and some weights.

Just on P/A yep they have Dixon, Georgiades, Marshall and still saw fit to draft but still saw fit to trade in Finlayson and draft Lord and Scully
Compare that to how we have gone about it in recent years they at least wont die wondering.
Finlayson Scully and Goegiades are all players i hoped we would have a go at but with JR and TL there they have just ignored the whole area and boy has it become dire now.

Probably the fact we aren’t dominating and he is captain we expect him to not give away the amount of free kicks he does. Also he used to be super dependable in taking contested marks at really critical parts of the game. That part seems to have abandoned him

As a captain he crashes in never takes a backward step and players walk taller with him around.
I don't give a poo about the frees he will always give away frees just because of the way he plays in this pussy riddled soft game they play nowdays.

6 free kicks against last week his opponent got 7 given to him. you cannot tell me that Lycett did not give away just as many as nank did.
As for physicality not a knock on Ryan but atm he just offers none at all.

Whilst Pickett deservedly gets the credit for kicking the winning goal, kudos to Ryan for knocking the ball to him in the marking contest. Was so important. No tap. No goal. Great signs !

+1 to this. Showing great Ruck craft despite only playing a handful of afl games. More of a reason he needs to be our primary ruckman

Last couple of weeks he's looked very tired

But today he found something and was solid

Well done young man :clapping

Glad you mentioned it.

I did spot it in the replays - was very deliberate and beautifully done.

McQualter post-game:

Not sure how serious. Samson played on for a couple of minutes after he hurt it [the ankle] but was ruled out at half-time. He'll go away and get scans and we'll take it from there.

Key player every AFL club must re-sign as 2024 contract priorities revealed

Samson Ryan

Yes, the likes of Toby Nankervis, Jack Grimes, Dustin Martin and Dion Prestia are also out of contract, but it’s a case of either they’ll re-sign or wouldn’t be a disaster if they left (outside of perhaps Nankervis) given their age as the club moves into a new phase. Yes, the three flags in four years was an almighty effort, but it’s now time to regenerate, making Samson Ryan an important piece moving forward given the club’s relatively lean key position/tall stocks. Despite only being 15 games into his career, the 22-year old has shown flashes both in the ruck and up forward. And with Ivan Soldo’s departure and Jack Riewoldt’s retirement, Ryan becomes all the more important, he just needs the time to settle.

Has he gained strength though. Has he found some intensity as well.
