The way I understand is you will virtually get no chance at getting a ticket for away games with any descent drawing opponents.

As for home games at best 50/50

What a joke this is.

What do you suggest?
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

Sack Andrews and make it 75k like all other states

Is that an option?

Club email about GA members

With our scheduled Round 1 clash vs Carlton Thursday March 18 fast approaching, we would like to update you with important ticketing information.  Due to current crowd capacity restrictions at sporting venues, including the MCG, we have had to change the way we provide ticketing access to games in season 2021.

For Round 1, General Admission members will have the opportunity to access tickets during a General Admission ticket on-sale via Ticketek and will be required to use their 12-digit barcode. As all membership cards are purely commemorative, member barcodes and ticketing on-sale dates will be communicated via email only.

At this time, it is not known when tickets will be available and may be during the week of our Round 1 clash. We will communicate to members prior to the on-sale so please ensure your contact details remain up to date.

Please note, all Club access members will have priority to ticketing prior to the General Public. We expect Round 1 to be a member only crowd.

Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the Richmond Membership Team on 1300 742 466.

Go Tiges!

Ignoring the strawman argument, 75% is 75k at the MCG. This issue isn't just that amount of people inside the ground but how that many people get to and leave the 'G. The days of packed trains won't return until at least the vaccination program is totally completed. The majority of 50k on Richmond station post-game could be pushing a train's capacity anyway.

Even with 50% capacity at the 'G, it will be a bigger crowd than other states. Melburnians attend sport in greater numbers than other states. The NRL in NSW was lucky even before covid if they got half that amount to any of their opening round games.

its not a strawman argument, rather a factual reply to a stupid comment that was selectively asked as you didn't like the answer.

Would you like me to dig some examples for you? Didn't think so.

Anyway, bottom line is other states are offering up 75% and we are still stuck on 50% :lol Il give you a hint its not Gale or dimmas decision.

Also i have just checked the train schedule on the packy line, runs every 10 mins PM on that day so not sure where that came from.

As for the carve out of tickets, i said it before i dont agree with new members that would gain entry over a 50 year member. (I am neither a 50 or 25)

A better system IMO would have been more tickets allocated in a ballot to different categories. e.g 50 years plus members, 25 etc etc

Good luck to all

Really? After 17 years on the forum there should be quite a few examples if I had posted politics in pure footy threads.

Anyway, bottom line is other states are offering up 75% and we are still stuck on 50% :lol Il give you a hint its not Gale or dimmas decision.
You mean the health advice from the state's own medical & scientific experts.

As I said, other states don't get anywhere near the crowds we get in Melbourne. So 50% MCG > 75% interstate. There will be 20k more people at our round 1 game than at the Granny in Brisbane last year.

Also i have just checked the train schedule on the packy line, runs every 10 mins PM on that day so not sure where that came from.
Extra trains are put on for footy crowds. I know as my late dad was a train driver.

I actually agree with you on this, Frankie. Those that were members through the crap decades should be rewarded first in terms of our current success. (I'm not 25+ either. A couple of years short).

Article says tickets go on sale to Richmond members on Tuesday week.

---------------------------------------------------------

Tickets for the season-opener between Richmond and Carlton on Thursday, March 18, at the MCG will go on sale to Melbourne Cricket Club members on Monday and to Tigers and Blues members on Tuesday, just two days before the match.

How will round-one tickets be allocated?

At the MCG, Melbourne Cricket Club members will be allocated 11,517 tickets, and a further 10,000 tickets have been designated for AFL members, which will leave club members jostling for the remaining 27,500 tickets.

... approximately 500 corporate tickets will be allocated.

Consequently, general public tickets will only be available on the Wednesday – a day before Richmond play Carlton – if there is still capacity after club member sales.

Club email:

Dear OE,

As you may have seen, the Victorian State Government recently made the decision to increase crowd capacity to 50 per cent at both the MCG and Marvel Stadium venues. This is the largest crowd seen at any AFL match in Victoria since last February and we're incredibly thrilled by the news as it simply means we can allow more of the Tiger Army opportunity to attend.

To ensure a COVID safe venue, 2021 General Admission members will have the opportunity to redeem a $0 ticket from 1pm (AEDT) Tuesday, March 16 via Ticketek*. The website link to access tickets will be sent direct via email on Monday, March 15. Members must follow this process to attend the match with their membership.

*Subject to change. Tickets limited and subject to availability. Transaction limit of six (6) tickets available. Tickets must be purchased/redeemed in advance as there will not be any ticket sales at the venue.

To successfully redeem a $0 ticket, members will need to use their 2021 membership barcode to redeem a ticket online (membership cards can not be used to scan in).

MEMBERSHIP BARCODE: ************

As Round 1 will be a member-only crowd with no guest passes available, anyone who may wish to join you on game day will need to be a Richmond member. Simply give our Membership Team a call on 1300 742 466 by 5pm (AEDT) Friday 12 March to ensure they join in time to receive access to the Round 1 on-sale.

ACCESSIBLE SEATING:

Accessible Seating can be booked via the online accessible seating booking form or by calling Ticketek on 1300 665 915.

Submit a request: Fill out the Accessible Seating booking form here and Ticketek will be in contact.

Phone: Call 1300 665 915 Ticketek's Accessible Seating booking line if you require special access, wheelchair, or companion card seating. Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm.

JUNIOR MEMBERS:

Due to COVID-19 tracing requirements, all members over the age of 12 months are required to have a ticket to enter and will be counted in any group registrations. If your child (under the age of 5) does not hold an access membership, please call the club on 1300 742 466 to discuss options.

Match Day Information:

Ahead of our first match day of season 2021, we would like to reiterate a few important points relating to our match day setup for the year:

- Due to COVID-19 restrictions, our match days may look a little different in season 2021. We kindly ask that you follow instructions provided by staff and carefully and safely adhere to all COVID-19 safe measures. This includes maintaining a 1.5m distance from patrons at all times, wearing a mask where you are unable to social distance and sanitising often. We're so excited to be back at the 'G with the Tiger Army by our side but we must ensure we continue to do the right thing for all.

- 2021 member choice items (cap, scarf) will not be available for collection on game days. Members have been emailed their $20 Tigerland Superstore voucher to redeem their item online (voucher not accepted physically in store). No items will be available for collection physically at the Club or Tigerland Superstore.

- There will be limited staff at the 'G on match day. We encourage you to call us on 1300 742 466 if you have any concerns or questions relating to your 2021 membership.

- Membership cards are purely commemorative in 2021 meaning all tickets will be digital and accessible through your Ticketek account (not MyRichmond).

Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the Richmond Membership Team on 1300 742 466.

How many members will get a Round 1 seat?

Power clubs Richmond, Carlton, Essendon and Collingwood have plans to get Round 1 tickets for as many diehard fans as possible. Here’s how.

Paywall: https://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/how-richmond-members-will-get-a-ticket-to-the-mcg-for-round-1/news-story/5a867b7843e871195a950c4c7b1af63b

Richmond says the “vast majority” of its members will gain access to Thursday night’s season opener against Carlton.

As AFL clubs attempt to satisfy both rank-and-file members and those paying for premium access, the Tigers have successfully catered for all of their reserved seat members seeking a ticket in the ballot to the season opener.

While Richmond has 87,496 members so far this year, club chief executive Brendon Gale told the Herald Sun on Thursday that most, if not all, of their paid-up, full members who were seeking tickets would gain entry.

Richmond’s general admission members will find out next Tuesday if they can get to the game.

The AFL has given clubs permission to prioritise the most expensive membership categories.

Power clubs including Richmond, Essendon and Collingwood have taken this path.

Collingwood will allow a two-hour window for its Legends and Club 5 categories when it opens up its ticket sales next Tuesday.

Under Richmond’s ballot system, successful reserved seat members will be able to sit in their customary MCG seating areas, while those who were unsuccessful in the ballot will still get tickets but in a different area allocated by Richmond.

They are then guaranteed they will sit in their normal seats the next time they enter the ballot.

The Herald Sun understands a decision to lift the state’s guidelines to phase two — which would allow up to 75,000 fans at the MCG — will likely run out of time.

But Gale said the club was keen to see more than 50 per cent crowds back at the footy.

“All the club’s eligible reserved seat and reserved bay members that successfully entered the Round 1 ballot have been allocated a ticket,” he said.

“Beyond that we anticipate the vast majority of members that want to attend the game will be able to do so, but that picture will become clearer next week.

“Our members have been very understanding and patient — this is a different environment we are working in and it can change very quickly.

“If we can get 50 per cent crowd capacity at our games we are confident that the vast majority if not all our members that want to attend will be able to do so.

“But clearly we want more — 50 per cent is a long way off meeting overall supporter demand. We need as many people back at the football as possible within the current constraints.”

The league has not lost all hope of as many as 60,000 fans filling the MCG, but it likely running out of time.

The State Government would have to decide ahead of Tuesday, when tickets go on sale, that it wanted to see an enhanced COVID-safe plan for more than 50 per cent capacity.

The league will await the State Government’s direction rather than directly pushing, aware that it should not take a short-term opportunistic approach when it can show how safely 50,000 fans can be seated at the MCG.

Its view is that once that is proven the State Government might quickly increase capacities, with state Sports Minister Martin Pakula saying on Saturday increased crowds by Round 1 were unlikely but not impossible.

Collingwood’s tickets for the Friday night blockbuster against the Western Bulldogs go on sale on Tuesday.

The Pies’ Club 5 and Legends members will get two hours of priority access before members with reserved seats receive another period of access.

Tickets left over will go to normal members including 11-game members for the MCG clash.

A Collingwood’s Legends Membership is a $750 membership, while the Club 5 membership is a five-year package which guarantees a Grand Final ticket should the club qualify.

Essendon, still angry the AFL did not schedule its game against Hawthorn at the MCG, will also allow its premium members first access.

The club’s High Mark and Silver reserved seat members are in Priority Group 1, with Priority Group 2 the bronze reserved seat members, with general admission access members in the third group.
