Adam Cerra (Fremantle)

Morris: “He’s in limbo. Victorian clubs expect him to come home. They’re not quite sure where, but I think Carlton’s very much in the mix here. Freo’s offer is $750,000 across four years.”

Mitch Clearly and Cal Twomey think Cerra could put off moving for now and sign with Freo for two years. Then in two years time he can see where Freo are at. In four years Cerra will be a free agent.

I see Merrett has signed at Bombers for 6 years at nearly 1m a year.  He's a good player but nowhere near that I don't believe
Good luck to him, now set up for life.

It's the market now

Majority of Clubs will pay big bucks to hold onto to their best players. Or Clubs will pay even bigger bucks to lure them away  :help

According to BF podcast (from the snippets I listened to):

Houli to re-sign but knowing he will get less game time next year.

Freo looking at McIntosh. Also interested in Baker and Short but doubt we'll trade either of those two. If Cerra comes in it could be for Kmac + first round pick.

Heard Bombers going hard at Jack Ross (but needs to confirm).

Jack Bowes from Gold Coast wants to leave Gold Coast. One to keep an eye on.

Tom Green's name keeps popping up.

Ben Ainsworth (GC) - Morwell boy whose link is his family is mad Richmond.

Allegedly $5mil over 6 years so about $833,000/year.

Big bucks indeed.

Makes you wonder why Cerra would be worth anywhere near 750 when Merrett is in AA contention and Cerra is finally getting 20+ touches on average.

If we have a punt on this guy I'd be wanting him for way less or FO.

I hope they don't sign Houli again.

Happy to trade KMac but not Baker or Short personally.

Bombers can have Ross or we will probably delist him surely? He gone backwards and done nothing since his debut although he's clearly played out of position often.

Ainsworth no effing thanks. Bowes is a decent player but similar to Vlastuin, not sure this should be our priority.

Green should 100% be our target. Should have rookie listed his brother too. Otherwise priorities are surely keeping Bolton + CCJ.

More from the BF podcast:

Richmond will be active in the draft. A rebuild on the run. A combo of looking to the future as well as filling needs now given we have injury prone mids. We want to bring in a mature mid (22-26 y.o.) on top of drafting Cotch's midfield replacement.

We don't have enough spots to use all 6 good picks on kids. Some players will have to go.

We will bring in 4-5 players over the off-season. 1-2 players from other clubs and then 3 via the draft.

We will try to trade one of our 2nd rounders for a future first rounder.

Noise on Narkle is real. Won't cost a lot. Friends with Dan Rioli. Want to play him in the midfield. Cost a 2nd or 3rd rounder.

Cerra is not a lock. 50/50 chance (later said 60% chance of leaving). Happy at Freo but has family here. If Cerra leaves Freo we are his No.1 option (80% confident it will be to us). Not Carl, Ess, North or Haw. Hardwick has met twice with him. 2-3 years work on this. Won't be $800k p.a.. It'll be less money but heavily back-loaded. We'll play Cerra as a winger. Not giving up 2 first rounders as we want to use one in the draft. It will be a pick and a player. If Cerra stays at Freo, we will use both 1st rounders in the draft.

Will Brodie will get delisted and we could pick him up as a rookie as could other clubs.

Mitch Wallis is likely as a mature inside mid we want. Will leave the Dogs. Very very cheap (4th round pick). Carlton interested as well.

Hopper off the board.

Cooled from last year on Charlie Constable.

Tom Mitchell not coming. Hawks want a first rounder and we won't give up a first pick now since his broken leg.

Major breakdown at St Kilda. Billings will leave to go to a good club. Not linked to us at this stage.

Earlier in the video said thinks one of CCJ or Chol will stay.

Then at the end of video said CCJ was 100% gone but now 70%. We will need a lot of salesmanship to get him to stay as he's been on the list for a long time and we didn't play him. If CCJ is dropped for Lynch in the finals then he's gone. If he's not re-signed by the finals then worry.

Ditto Chol (if he's not re-signed by finals). Think he'll go due to his family.

Hmmm not sure about Wallis, Brodie and Narkle. Has a moneyball feel to it. Wallis will be 29 at years end. The other two haven't really got many runs on the board but I guess I'll trust the club.

They will play CCJ with Lynch and he will stay. Chol going surely.

Cerra would have to take unders here, significantly.

Narkle seems to lack the tank that will put him in the midfield so why are we linked to him?

Struggling to cement a place in Geelong's midfield.

We already have enough small forwards who are better than Narkle.

You say moneyball like it’s a negative. It isn’t, low cost for high gain providing you don’t build an entire list with that approach.
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.
