Good win by Wines, onya ...
But what an absolute relief that none of Dangerfield, Selwood or Porkins got anywhere near the leaders board all night!
But I can see SHocking sending a few emails to Gil this week ....    ::)

----------------------------

Despite missing the last five games of the season with a nasty kidney injury, Dustin Martin was the top vote-getter in the reigning premier's disappointing season. Martin polled three best-afields, including in the first two rounds of the season. Veteran Jack Riewoldt showed there's plenty left in the tank, while 14 Tigers polled, including key backs David Astbury and Dylan Grimes.

This award has become a joke.  The umpires can't get decisions right on or off the field.  They just check the AFL stats after the game to give their votes.

Wines is the worst winner since Shane Wowodien

Congrats to Ollie … but
They may as well change the name of the award to
“The biggest possession getter” award

IMO the bont is a far more valuable and effective player.

Just rename it the Chaz Brownlow Midfielder's Medal already then add the Danny Frawley Golden Fist -done officially and professionally not as a gag- for the defenders...forwards already have the Coleman... :shh

Yeah nah that honour still belongs to Burger Rings.... would put Wines ahead of Neale & T.Mitchell as well for that matter......  :shh

People always say the Brownlow is a ‘midfielders’ award now but the players award, coaches award and  media awards all get handed out to the mids too. No matter whose perspective you get, the mids will always come out on top.

It's the way the game is covered these days and the self-perpetuating echo chamber it exists in...all the more reason to institute awards for each line....:shh
