Cooked. What a waste.  :(

Can you elaborate?
"The money might have been better. But, at the end of the day, Richmond showed faith in me. It's only fair that now we're 18th on the ladder, I show the faith back in the club and do everything I can to put them in front. In the end, I'm stoked I made the decision to stay. I f***ing love this club”

14 months into a 12 month injury still tbc after being told we'll know a "timeframe" for his return in a couple of weeks every couple of weeks since the off-season -  I call bullshyte. #Sorcery&Magic >:(

What do you want them to say? That he isn’t progressing well enough? His confidence isn’t there ? He’s pulling up sore ? Truth is he just isn’t ready yet and it will take as long as it takes

It's not bullshyte as you call it but reality. The bit you conveniently ignore is this "We are still managing those two significant injuries year on year". It is the reason they are going down the cautious path.

I spoke to Josh last week at the player sponsor's function and he explained why they are going slowly I even posted about it and NO he's not my sponsored player

See: https://oneeyed-richmond.com/forum/index.php?topic=33805.msg789114#msg789114

Club is doing it the right way, the player is OK with it & I would think that's the most important part.

Will repeat what I posted last week after speaking to Josh I've got no doubt he will play this year; after the bye

Player Sponsorship is not a coterie..not even close. More rank & file members take out Player Sponsorship than members of coteries. But that wouldn't suit your argument would it....much easier to insinuate Player's are "humouring" their sponsors rather than the players actually having a connect or building a relationship with their sponsors

He can see the light': Gun Tigers cub nears a return

Adem Yze addressed Richmond's injuries on Thursday.

Richmond young gun Josh Gibcus can see the light at the end of the tunnel of his injury recovery.

Gibcus has played only two games since he featured 18 times in an impressive debut season in 2022 due to a complex hamstring injury in 2023, before rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament in round one last year.

The 22-year-old required secondary knee surgery last year and didn't run for nine months due to complications with his rehabilitation, but returned to Qatar in the off-season to spend time inside internationally renowned sports medicine practice Aspetar.

Since starting to run again in January, Gibcus has gradually built his workload up to a point where the Tigers are now hoping the 2021 pick No.9 will be ready in 7-10 weeks.

Speaking at the Swinburne Centre ahead of training on Thursday, Richmond coach Adem Yze believes the key defender will return for a block of games in the closing months of the home and away season.

"We are really confident with that," Yze said at Punt Road.

"He will join in a few main sessions, which is great. He has a timeline now of 7-10 weeks, so now he can see the light.

"We were just really mindful that he needed a block of training. Pre-seasons are really short, so if you have any interruptions, let alone if you’re coming back from a knee reco, you need to get a pre-season into him. Right now, he's doing that. He'll be running around today in a yellow hat, so you will notice him.

"He is starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Our fitness staff have done an amazing job with him, they’ve been really patient. He is such an important player for us, such a highly talented kid that we just can’t take any risk with. We’ve got the right process in place, so hopefully we give him a great opportunity later in the year.”

'He can see the light': Gun Tigers cub nears a return

RICHMOND young gun Josh Gibcus can see the light at the end of the tunnel after transitioning back into full training, but 2024 top-10 pick Josh Smillie will be sidelined for at least a few weeks with another hamstring setback.

Since starting to run again in January, Gibcus has gradually built his workload up to a point where the Tigers are now hoping the 2021 pick No.9 will be ready to return in the VFL by the start of July.

He has a timeline now of 7-9 weeks, so now he can see the light.

Josh Gibcus has played just two games since his debut season in 2022.

The 22-year-old sustained a severe hamstring injury, which required overseas medical assistance, before rupturing his ACL in just his second game back last season.

Yze said Gibcus had produced a “powerful” block at training and was “jumping out of his skin” to play.

“Josh Gibcus will play, touch wood, he’ll be back the following week.

“Yeah, no doubt, and I feel for him, he’s taken a little bit longer than the others, the other boys who hurt their knees last year,” he said.

“He’s jumping out of his skin and, to be fair, his last few weeks have been really powerful like he’s looked back to the Gibbo we know.

“We can’t wait to get him back out there, he’s such a talented kid and he’s a real leader down there for us.

“You can’t wait for him to get some luck, like two years of setbacks. Hopefully, he gets a full run at it now.”

Luckless Tiger set to return after 15-month layoff

Josh Gibcus is set to play on managed minutes in the VFL this weekend.

Luckless Richmond defender Josh Gibcus is set to return in the VFL on Sunday, more than 15 months after his most recent game.

The 2021 pick No.9 has endured a horror run since his debut season, managing only two games since the end of 2022 due to long-term injuries.

But after ticking off training at Punt Road on Wednesday, Gibcus is now expected to play some minutes against Geelong's VFL side at GMHBA Stadium in his next step towards an AFL return.

Gibcus hasn't played since rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament against Carlton in round one last year in just his second game back from a complex hamstring injury.

The 22-year-old required secondary knee surgery last year and didn't run for nine months until January this year, due to complications with his rehabilitation.

After heading to internationally renowned sports medicine practice Aspetar in Doha at the end of 2023 to treat the hamstring injury that wiped out his second season, Gibcus returned to Qatar last off-season to deal with his knee.

Now after a gradual build over the past few months, the Ballarat product is ready to play managed minutes across three quarters in the VFL.

With eight games left in the home-and-away season, Gibcus has time to return for Adem Yze's senior side but won't be rushed after a nightmare injury run.

Gibcus won Richmond's best first-year player award in 2022 when he played 18 games and the club remains confident he can fulfil his potential, despite an arduous journey back.

Before he gets on the park, can the Serpell critics please advise if he's had enough time on the sidelines? Are we rushing it or playing it too cautious?

If he gets injured he rushed him, if he doesn’t he held him back too long….
