Forgot to say in my training report that Sonsie's workrate from contest to contest to link up is fantastic. I'm trying to keep a lid on things as he's only played one intra-club game but it's getting harder and harder not to get excited about him.

Mind you missed a chunk of the whole preseason to.
True. He's only been training with the main group for about the past month.

Dimma talking about Sonsie in the latest Talking Tigers episode:

"What I love about this kid is that he found it 27 times on the weekend. He has some work to do on his fitness but one thing you can't teach a player is how to win the ball. And he does that."

27…not bad!

Man it would be great if this kid could turn into a quality AFL mid.

Have we seen so much - genuine - hype on the draftees? Maybe for the 2004 group but that proved to be misplaced outside of Deledio. Yes I know Martin was hyped but for sheer number of new kids showing promise 2021 draft might be one of the best

Was tipped to be a top 5 pick at one stage,  gut runner who might fit the Lambert mould.

Needs to improve fitness but has missed all of pre season & only been matter a matter of weeks because of injury, once he gets some match fitness via VFL he'll be pushing for a debut soon enough

Are they already looking for reasons NOT TO PLAY HIM. Lacks fitness eh yet he still got it 27 times. Others have commented on his work rate to get to contest to contest.

Personally id play a slightly underdone Sonsie in front of hacks like Castagna and Aarts who offer absolutely nothing moving fwd.

Richmond player Tyler Sonsie has been charged by the VFL's Match Review Panel following the VFL Tigers' Round 1 win last Sunday.

The Match Review Panel charged Sonsie for striking Southport player Max Pescud during the fourth quarter of the VFL Round 1 Match between Richmond and Southport on Sunday, 27 March at the Swinburne Centre.

Based on the available video evidence and medical report, the incident was assessed as Careless Conduct with Low Impact and High Contact. The incident was classified as a one (1) match sanction as a first office.

Sonsie has accepted a $500 fine (AFL Listed) and a reprimand with an early guilty plea.
