Jesse Hogan is set to return this Sunday against Richmond. Ticked off training today, just needs to pull up well tomorrow. Nick Haynes also looks ready to go again after struggling with a stomach problem in the past month. More to come @AFLcomau

THE CERTAINTIES FOR THE REST OF ROUND 2

Andrew Slevison
SEN
26 March 2022

Richmond v GWS

Balta and Bolton to combine for 3+ goals

Noah Balta started the loss to Carlton in defence, but quickly became Richmond’s most dangerous tall forward, kicking two goals.

With Jack Riewoldt sidelined, he should get even more opportunity in attack.

Shai Bolton was the Tigers’ best against the Blues with three goals and with no Dustin Martin, there will be more responsibility on him to fire in the midfield/forward role.

The Balta-Bolton duo should combine for three or more goals against the Giants.

Green to have 25+ disposals

Tom Green was immense in the Giants’ loss to Sydney in Round 1, finishing with 31 touches and eight clearances.

He is fast emerging as the club’s best young midfielder and is primed for a big match against a Richmond side that was mauled in the midfield by Carlton.

Green should rack up 25 touches as he’ll likely get his hands on the ball first at the contest. You can throw in four-plus clearances into the certainty bucket as well, especially now that Dion Prestia and Martin are out for the Tiges.

The Tigers will need to slow down Green and his midfield mates Tim Taranto, Josh Kelly, Callan Ward and Stephen Coniglio if they are any chance of winning on Sunday.

Cant see green coming to us. We seem to be on the decline. And I have real concerns about what our recruiters have done the last 3 or 4 years. Sydney Swans they are amassing a really talented group. Florent Rowbottom etc. There recruiters have done a great job.

Grimes Out
Miller in

I like Miller but Grimes is a big out.

At least we get to see the future with Miller and Gibcus in defence.

I hope I'm wrong but if GWS come to play this could get ugly  :-\. Even if Grimesy was playing, the problem is still our midfield especially with no two-way ballwinners in Prestia and Lambert plus no Dusty. The Giants' mids will eat us for breakfast if we are slow, soft and reactive like we were against Carlton.

In 2019-20 you would never right us off as we played with a spirit, hunger and intensity to pull off wins against the odds even with our cubs. Haven't seen that hunger and intensity as a team for 12 months irrespective of who was in the side. We're going to have to rediscover that edge in and at the contest across 4 quarters if we're going to pull off an unlikely win.

Looking forward to seeing how Miller performs on a Riccardi or Himmelberg.
