Richmond’s system still stacks upWith the likes of Jack Riewoldt, Dustin Martin, Nick Vlaustin, Dion Prestia and Dylan Grimes out, not many were confident in backing Richmond against GWS at the MCG on Sunday.
While they’ve dropped back from their dominant era from 2017 to 2020, the Tigers probably deserved a little more respect from the football community after their Round 1 loss and they proved why against the Giants.
Although they were missing those big names, the Tigers controlled proceedings against a GWS side that on paper had more star power.
Their defence looks set even without Grimes, and being able to swing Noah Balta forward with Jack Riewoldt out is a luxury teams would kill to have.
They’ve been such a well-coached and drilled team across the last half decade, and even without the big names, it’ll hold the Tigers in great stead for season 2022.
