TELL EM THEY’RE DREAMIN’ / Tigers’ qualityBy Michael Gleeson

May 23, 2022 What we now know about Richmond is that after a shaky start they are back in the eight.
They have successfully re-introduced Dusty Martin. They have successfully fashioned Daniel Rioli into a creative half-back flanker when his career was drifting. They have brought in Robbie Tarrant and he had his best game yet for the Tigers on Saturday night.
They have found out that Maurice Rioli belongs at the level and is a serious talent.
They have re-confirmed they are a vastly better side with Dion Prestia back in and that Jack Riewoldt’s form in the first month was sustainable and he is having a very good year. He will need to for now Tom Lynch is out.
They have told us they can still play very good football and since losing to Melbourne, they have beaten up the sides they should beat up – West Coast, Collingwood, Hawthorn and now Essendon. But they have not yet told us how good they are.
Now Lynch looks like he is out for a while, Kane Lambert’s hip is giving him gyp and Noah Balta’s hamstring has been given a fair tear, we won’t get a true handle on how good they can be this year for a while.
They enter the bracket of games – Sydney away next Friday night, the bye, then Port, Carlton and Geelong all at the ’G – that should have been a real test of whether they have one more shot at the flag with this group. But now we will probably have to reserve judgment again, unless they get over all these sides with their key forward out and they fall back on their 2017 system of Jack and the smalls up forward.
