The article also mentions we've got 19 players out of contract this year.

It's behind a paywall so I presume they are talking about:

Baker, Broad, Collier-Dawkins, Cotchin, Cumberland, Edwards, Lambert, Martyn, Riewoldt, D.Rioli, M.Rioli, Ross

Rookies: Aarts, Colina, Miller, Nyuon, Parker, Pickett, Stack.

Need to sign Baker, Broad, both Riolis. Probably Pickett, one of Miller and Nyuon.

Cotch and Jack should play on for 15ish games next year

Edwards and Lambert probably retire.

The rest can go IMO.

For me
Aartz - delist
RCD - trade for peanuts
Lambert - retire
Martyn - delist
Ross - trade for peanuts
Stack - wait maybe he can turn it around otherwise trade.

Whilst we need to transition Cotchin, Edwards, Riewoldt we can do it slowly. The draftees coming in can get huge benefit in being around those guys.

List of vets with ages at the start of next year or very early into the start of season

Riewoldt 34
Lynch 30
The only two key fwds with none coming thru. If he doesnt retire  JR will stay as there is nothing to replace him with and means at 34 he is still very much needed.

Tarrant 34 april next year.
Broad 30 april
Grimes 31
Vlastuin 29 april

Tarrant aside who is our second best genuine sized KPD as others just have not come on, still.
There are no like for like replacements especially size wise for Grimes Broad and Vlastuin.
Im not holding my breath on Miller or Nyuon making it and think we need another genuine KPD size on the list just in case.

Prestia 30
Cotchin 33 april
Lambert 31
Martin 31
Edwards 34

Take Bolton  out of the equation and they continue to be our best 5 mids no one has come on  and the alarm bells are going off.

Pickett 30
McIntosh 29 april

Two ageing wingers and both are okay players at best imo.
Mids of all types and key forwards are needed and needed now it takes time to develop players.
I think we are defying gravity atm and  a serious fall is coming.

Which veteran tigers should play on?  Caddy is already gone but imo Lambert and Edwards should retire. I think Prestia is one soft tissue injury away from retirement as well. Lets hope not.
If kids were banging the door down i would say Cotchin but no one is out performing him.

The question for me is if we keep these mids who are they holding out. If we are totally honest you have to say hardly anyone. Blokes like Ross Dow RC-D Martyn they just have not done enough. Should we play em and find out well thats where im coming from.
I can see players like Stack, Mansell, RC-D, asking for a trade as we are not giving them a go.
Its a bit like damned if you do damned if you don't. The equation is easy for me are we winning flags with the group. The answer is a big no for me and as such i prefer we find out what the kids have got and get a better read on them regards keeping or not.

Finally there are 19 out of contract but there are contracted players i just don't rate as well and as far as im concerned there are around 19 who are very much in the gun atm for various reasons.

How about this equation - did you see us winning three flags at the end of 2016?....

If the answer is "no," then maybe you're not the oracle of list builds and you should leave it to the pros.

The problem is RCD or Srack are not warranting games has to be form Mansell he can play. But who comes out of the backline.Dow is no issue for me can play.

Mate Biggie and Miller are projects late picks they take time confident they will come on.We need to address midfield and forward line for me 3 picks in the top 30 can address that maybe sign a few kids not getting games at other clubs or free agency if we're smart we can do this. Ryan, Mate and Bauer we need 1or 2 of them to come on.

I said so many times I think Claw you forget this this side did it's job 3 flags can't ask more the rebuilding was going to come that's how system works hopefully last years crop comes on to.So be it there is a bit of pain rebuilt probably unlike cats topping up.

Tiger vets tipped to go around again (zerohanger)

Tiger Kings tipped to go around again

The veterans are said to be keen to remain at Punt Road.

Ed Carmine
zerohanger.com
June 10, 2022

Richmond veterans Jack Riewoldt and Trent Cotchin are reportedly keen to continue their decorated careers in yellow and black, irrespective of the fact that neither has a contract for beyond the cessation of the 2022 season.

Since making their respective debuts in 2007 and 2008, the duo of former first-round draftees have combined to claim six premiership medallions, five Jack Dyer Medals, four All-Australian blazers, a trio of Colemans and a belated Brownlow.

However, with each of the legendary Tigers currently out-of-contract and set to become unrestricted free agents by the end of September, the pair's future at Punt Road remains ambiguous.

Still, as stated by News Corp, both the Tasmanian and country Victorian are said to be keen to recommit to Damien Hardwick's ambush for the 2023 season.

Though the departure of Bachar Houli in 2021 set in motion the Tigers' attempts to rejuvenate their roster, should Richmond have room within their cap to table respectful deals, the champion spearhead and triple premiership skipper look set to stay put.

With Cotchin currently enjoying a new lease on life after handing over the captaincy reins, as well as leading Hardwick's men for clearances heading into Round 13, a choice to run back the old guard appears likely to be astute.

Despite the near-certain necessity of requiring a hip replacement just to pull the boots on again, The Herald Sun has also claimed that Kane Lambert remains a live option to continue his career in a sashed guernsey.

Lambert joined the Tigers as a mature-aged option ahead of the 2015 season, going on to become an integral utility option during Richmond's recent golden run.

Yet, the 30-year-old's fortunes have reversed of late, managing just four appearances so far this season given his lack of mobility due to his degrading joint.

The former Coburg Lion is also without a currently inked contract for the 2023 season and is set to become a restricted free agent across the course of the coming months.

Cotch has shown he can well and truly go round again. Still wouldn’t recontract him until the end of the season, not like he’s going elsewhere.

Jack has been ok this season. Doesn’t seem to be able to be the main man anymore but can still support Lynch as second banana.

Sheds has been the vet struggling most this season which has been a big surprise to me. He has been much better recently though. Closing in on game 300 too let’s see how he goes in the second half of the season.

If Lambert is ooc this year it would be irresponsible to sign him again as a player. VFL and development coach sure.

Edwards I reckon is gone. Terrible again vs Port. Can hardly think of anything good he did. He's lost a yard and it shows because his evasiveness has suffered so his hands aren't as good as a result.

Jack looks finished sometimes too, last game vs Port he was crap, never puts his head over the ball anymore, can't jump anymore. He will always kick goals because he is smart and a great lead + kick so could probably stay on as depth but not for a 20+ game season.

Cotchin looks good to keep going if he avoids soft tissue injuries - sign late or after the season.

One of Jack and Edwards should retire and one keep going.

Claw is right we are in trouble and the writing was on the wall last year.

We completely stuffed up last year in that we didnt trade for a hewitt or lipinski type as well as not holding on to one of the 2 guys who walked. Dusty is really down on form and if we win games its on the back of our established players stepping up as the vfl shows we havent got much coming through.

our defence is and will remain solid as well as our ruck stocks. Everything else i see danger signs moving forward. We are a victim of our success much like the hawks went through.

Edwards is finished and must finish up at seasons end.

Currently a member of the Roupies, and employed by the great man Roup.

The end is coming for Sheds it seems, surely Lambert can't go on like this either.
Jack & Cotch deserve to go around again.

Probably not popular opinion but trading Dusty might just be the rejuvenation we need if we could bring in a high draft pick and a good player
