To let 2 Ruckman go , might give a hint to who Richmond have their eye on in the ND

Yep think its highly likely. Oh well.

What is now becoming more baffling  is why we did not go harder for more picks in this draft rather than settling for just pick 5 and only ending up with how many nd picks.

What a lost opportunity to add real depth in several areas.

How do you know we didn’t?

Looks to me like we will start 2027 with a full list of 44 players comprising 38 on the primary list, 4 on the Rookie A list and two on the Rookie B list. I am assuming Mykelti Lefau gets elevated to the primary list, we draft four kids in the National draft, one in the Rookie draft and we sign one Irishman to the Rookie B list. Here’s my rationale.

2026 list prior to retirements and delistings
Primary: 38
Rookie A: 5 (Kye Annand, Thomas Burton, Campbell Grey, Mykelti Lefau, James Trezise)
Rookie B: 2 (Patrick Carr, Oliver Hayes-Brown)
Total: 45

2026 list on first list lodgement (31st October)
Primary: 34
Out (Retired): 2 (Nathan Broad, Dion Prestia)
Out (Delisted): 5 (Steely Green, Liam Fawcett, Sampson Ryan, Kaleb Smith, Tyler Sonsie)
In (Free agents/Trades): 2 (Kieren Briggs, Nathan O’Driscoll)
In (Elevation from Rookie A): 1 (Mykelti Lefau)
Rookie A: 3
Out (Delisted): 1 (James Trezise)
Out (Elevation to Primary list): 1 (Mykelti Lefau)
Rookie B: 2
Out (Delisted): 1 (Oliver Hayes-Brown)
In (New signing): 1 (We will list one of the Irish lads who we’ve brought out to trial)
Total: 39

2027 list after AFL Draft and Rookie Draft
Primary: 38 (34 above plus AFL draft picks 2, 5, compensation pick 22, 44)
Rookie A: 4 (3 above plus Rookie draft pick 2)
Rookie B: 2 (Patrick Carr plus one Irish signing)
Total: 44

Just 4 ND picks in the last deep draft before tassie is a disgrace. To top it off to have just one late nd pick left is crazy.

there are so many whos careers are on a knifes edge and we won't have the ability to clean em all out if we wish.

Short, Rioli, Ralphsmith, (Clarke Gibcus Smillie ) all injuries and the obvious question is can they get back to afl level for starters.
Burton, Banks, Brown  Mansell reported as gone to tassie who knows, Lefau is a bit filler , Lynch Nankervis and maybe even Vlastuin all retire, other do need to improve Armstrong needs a big year McAuliffe needs a big year stagnate and they could be in trouble.

I dont believe we have a long term strategy for way too long they make it up as they go.

Sheesh people still lamenting CC-J. Unbelievable.

He was your typival dual role ruck/fwd that you avoid, just okay at best in both roles not good enough in one of them.

Hugo and Rioli staying instead of Green us baffling  decision

We have something like 8 players with 100 games.

Another 9 with 50.

Keeping the more experienced and letting go on green who isn't good is alright imo

MRJ and Ralphsmith 1 year deals leave Burton and Clarke the last out of contract players remaining. Would expect similar deals for them, maybe they delist juddy and move him to the rookie list.

Tom Burton
Judson Clarke
Hugo Ralphsmith
Maurice Rioli

Steely Green
Oliver Hayes-Brown
Samson Ryan
Tyler Sonsie
James Trezise
Liam Fawcett
Kaleb Smith

I would rather have Green or Sonsie than MRJ or HRS

It is what it is at this point.

I would have been ok if they delisted them all except for Burton and Clarke

It appears the club sees HRS as more versatile and were heavily influenced  in their decision-making by his game against the Eagles.
