Trade talk, rumours & innuendo 2023
« on: December 06, 2022, 02:29:42 AM »
According to Tiger71 on the BF podcast last night:

* We're having a crack at two forwards next offseason. It times with Riewoldt retiring at the end of next year. We'll trade players out to get the currency.

* One of the forwards is Ben King. We've been showing interest over the past 8-10 months. If King hasn't re-signed with the Suns by the middle of next year then we're in with a show.

* They also mentioned as the other option - Jacob Koschitzke or Jake Riccardi. Hoping they may be a cheap option.

I like it. States clear intention.

Now to perform in 2023 and ensure we remain a destination club for players seeking success.

The Suns and GWS will hate us. We take all their players in their prime and we give them off cuts

Liam Stocker has secured a second chance after signing with St Kilda via the pre-season supplemental selection period.

ADELAIDE has signed former Collingwood defender Mark Keane to fill the final spot on its list for this season.

The out-of-contract target your AFL club should be scouting throughout 2023

Richmond

Hayden McLean

After a sizeable off-season that saw the Tigers pull in GWS star duo Tim Taranto and Jacob Hopper, Richmond are likely to be in for a quieter trade period.

Their backline needs no adjustment, while their new recruits replenish their midfield for the coming seasons while Shai Bolton, Jayden Short and Tyler Sonsie look to rotate through the middle.

One area the Tigers are potentially needing more coverage for is their tall forward options, with triple premiership spearhead Jack Riewoldt likely entering his final year in the AFL.

A new forward piece to partner Tom Lynch in attack will be atop Richmond's wishlist, with a target that can also pinch-hit in the ruck an added bonus.

Swans tall Hayden McLean fits the mould for Richmond's recruiting plan, with the Beaumaris product a promising aerial threat that can slot into the forward line as well as work in tandem with Toby Nankervis.

Off-contract and seen as no certainty to feature in John Longmire's best 22-man side, the fifth-year Swan could consider a return to Victoria.

As I have been recovering from concussion, had one of my good mates that shares solid mail tell me about a target or two. I will be getting it confirmed on the weekend and will share it once I trust it. If right, our backline will be sorted for awhile.

Massive interest from Vic clubs in Georgiades as well as the expected WA offers. But he isn’t keen on a move back west.

Trade speculation in February.  Reeks of desperation to be relevant.
Who cares.

NO OFFER FOR PROMISING BOMBER

Essendon are in no rush to extend the contract of first-round draftee Ben Hobbs, having not tabled a contract offer to the tough second-year midfielder.

Opposition clubs are monitoring Hobbs’ situation – including the fact he has not played at AFL level this season, after 17 games last year – and starting to inquire about his potential availability.

Would we be one of those opposition clubs?

Allegedly, we had interest in Hobbs in his draft year but when Gibcus was available at our first pick instead we jumped to grab him instead.

Should the Tigers chase Harry Himmelberg?

Callum Twomey's idea.

I think we need to get some young talent in between 18-23.
