The Herald Sun reported the Crows expect rival offers for Tom Doedee to be as long as five years and as much as $600,000 per season. The Crows would likely be handed a second-round compo pick.

SEN reported the Hawks had joined the race for Mabior Chol, who also had suitors at Adelaide, Brisbane and, most notably, North Melbourne. As Chol is contracted to the Suns until at least the end of 2025, he’d have to be traded to a different club.

The Age reported, though, the Hawks could also turn to Ben King, as well as Port Adelaide’s Todd Marshall and Bulldogs duo Jamarra Ugle-Hagan and Todd Marshall, whose deals all expire at the end of next season. However it’s widely expected King will re-sign with the Suns during the off-season.

Paddy Dow is St Kilda-bound.

Zac Fisher expected to join North Melbourne on a four-year deal with a five-year trigger at $450,000 a year.

Melbourne could look for a ruckman in return for James Harmes and/or Grundy, assuming they both leave. Richmond are one club eyeing Harmes, while Tiger Ivan Soldo is again on the hunt for more opportunity.

Don't see why we would bother with Harmes myself unless one of Prestia or Graham is on the move.

Taranto and Hopper, Dow likely to get more games you'd think, Prestia, Graham. Plenty of mids at the moment and Harmes isn't better than most

Harmes reeks of Miller-Cameron Frawley Era recruiting and Mitch Thomas moneyball bollocks... :help

Harmes would make a good run with/tagger. We don't really have one on our list.

Always thought this was going to be Graham's role but we've either never bothered or he hasn't succeeded much beyond blanketing Sloane in the '17 GF

It's been well documented that Dimma didn't believe in tagging. Fortunately, in 2017 Caracella did  ;D

I understand the rationale. You have a tagger who plays on a jet who instead of 40 possessions gets 20. But your tagger hasn’t touched the ball so you’re effectively playing one down.

That being said Lachie Neale in 2022 I think had 40 and he torched us. Same with Sidebottom 2018 . Like everything I think flexibility helps. Like didn’t cotchin tag tim Kelly in 2019 prelim against geelong after half time?

And in 2019 he had over 50 disposals and they still lost by around 5 goals

CLUBS SET FOR MOVES AFTER CATCH-UP

Nearly half of the competition's list bosses caught up on Wednesday in a final round of mini trade talks ahead of the start of the player movement window next week.

Richmond, Geelong, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide, Melbourne, Fremantle and Adelaide all gathered for separate discussions in Docklands ahead of the opening of the free agency period next Friday and the Trade Period the following Monday, on October 6.

Not all clubs met with each other, with the chats an informal step in them being across general plans, how many draft picks are likely to be needed and used and the overview of where negotiations sit on out-of-contract players.

Free agents are able to lodge their moves on the Friday following this weekend's Grand Final.

Adelaide and Melbourne will be keen to secure another top 10 pick if the Suns end up trading pick 4 to the Bulldogs.

The Dogs are offering picks 10, 17 and a future first-rounder — and would likely secure a third-rounder back from the Suns — which adds up to around 3500 draft points if the Dogs finished eighth next year.

The Crows and Demons have multiple second-rounders and one of that pair could trade them to the Suns for pick 10. Adelaide has picks 21 and 24 to the Demons’ 25 and 33, so the Crows are in the box seat. But if the Demons found a way to sweeten that deal their draft hand could be five, 10 and 13.

GEELONG is open to putting its lucrative top-10 pick up for trade over the coming month, should the right opportunity present itself.

The Cats have already held discussions with rival teams around potential pick swaps involving the No.7 selection, while they would also be open to parting with the first-round draft choice for the right player.
