Latest -hopefully untrue- rumour doing the rounds is that we're into Snelling from the Bumblers.... :biglaugh :facepalm :biglaugh :help

Who?
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

what amazes me is we didnt feel there were any glaring issues in our f50 to target players like bobby hill who was picked up for virtually nothing.

either dimma was too stubborn, or he stupidly felt blokes like mrj would come on.

our forward line will still be a mess next year with one or 2 injuries. We have no depth at all.

It’s not Dimma that is the problem. No coincidence that ever since Fartley and Livingston were promoted and Balme demoted we’ve gone to poo. Fartley, Clarke and Livingston need to be pee’d off

A 2nd round selection is hardly 'nothing'. I suppose we should have been able to get Taranto, Hopper and Hill all in the one year? Not sure of you are aware, but there is thing called a 'salary cap'.

I'm well aware are you?

The Giants trade Hill and its round-three selection (pick No.40) to Collingwood for its round-three selection (43) and its future second-round selection.

So what pick exactly have the pies given up here? Pick 40 is peanuts then and it' is now. Did you have any issue in what we gave up for hopper, or  is that hardly anything as well?

He wouldn't have cost more than 450k per year. We have blokes like Soldo and Graham on similar figures, yet we sat on our arse and tried to chase  a 4th flag with this group.

We have sat on our arses for three years now and still supporters are living in the past.
It is simple we have stopped evolving we still think we can win another flag with this group. At this rate it will be another 37 years of denial before we win another flag.

Lets look at all the clubs as of now and how long its been since their last flags.

Adelaide - a two town team powerhouse. 1998.
Brisbane - 2003 and still going.
Carlton - 1995 and 28 years long may it last.
Collingwood - premiers ffs.  before this year 2010.
Essendon - 2000 23 years another team we all hope it lasts forever.
Fremantle - came into the comp in 1995 28years and counting.
Geelong - 2022 before that 2011. It took 11 years it did not take long enough.
Hawthorn - 2015 and counting.
Melbourne - 2021 before that 1964.
North - 1999 and counting long may it last.
Port - 2004 another two team power house who have been mostly ordinary for the last 19 seasons. Long may it last.
StKilda - last played in a gf 2010. Have one flag in too long to remember.
2018 - WCE 2018 currently a rabble looks like at least 5 years before they get another one. Very rich powerful club could take less time if they ever get their act back together.
FOOTSCRAY - 2016. 7 SEASONS AND COUNTING.

The point is its a falacy when people talk about premiership time frames. Already we are 3 years past our last flag and we have a very ageing list with not a lot of top end talent coming thru and still we think we can turn it around in a year or two. It is a fantasy.

Premierships don't grow on trees they come from years and years of hard work.

RICHMOND

Players that could leave

The Tigers are tipped to be quiet this upcoming Trade Period, with only a handful of names popping up in the trade talk. The main one is ruckman Ivan Soldo, who Port Adelaide holds some interest in, even though they’re also targeting the Bulldogs’ Jordon Sweet. Hugo Ralphsmith is also yet to commit to next season after playing just 13 games in 2023. Dustin Martin isn’t going anywhere until the end of next year at least, while there were some reports linking Dion Prestia to a return to Queensland but nothing substantial.

Players that could arrive

Richmond need a replacement for forward Jack Riewoldt after his almost two decades at the club, and Hawk Jacob Koschitzke looks to be that man. The out-of-contract forward has requested a move to the Tigers, despite having a deal to stick around at Waverley Park. The Tigers are also reportedly one of four clubs keen on out-of-favour Demon James Harmes – although he’s been linked most heavily with a move to Essendon.

Adelaide offering Chol 3 years apparently. Norf and Hawks may be offering the same or even 4 years according to Tom Morris.

Graham, Ralphsmith, Soldo should all be traded for whatever we can get.

Personally, I'd also trade Prestia to get a 1st rounder.
