Failing to create and take chances in the first half despite dominating possession before falling away again in the second half. Groundhog day! :facepalm.

Socceroos now down to 3rd on the table which would cost us automatic qualification.

Saudi Arabia   16
Japan             12
Australia         11
Oman              7
China              5
Vietnam          0

Did what we had to do with a 4-0 win. Great to see Rogic bring his Celtic form to the Socceroos. Likewise Boyle from Hibs. However, that 25 minutes after half-time whether it was due to complacency or fatigue in the heat was slop giving a poor team like Vietnam some decent chances. Lucky they didn't score. We won't get away with that rubbish in the remaining three qualifiers if we dish that up again.

ps. VAR once again proving to be a joke. That was a clear goal to us in the first minute. Irvine had no impact on the play nor the goalie. If the refs start paying that as offside then every crowded box for a corner could be classed as interfering with the goalie's line of sight  ::).

Saudi Arabia and Japan won as well so we're still 3rd. We play Oman away on Wednesday morning (3am) while the top 2 play each other.

Saudi Arabia  19
Japan            15
Australia        14
Oman              7
China              5
Vietnam          0

A pathetic week for our national teams  :thumbsdown.

The Matildas are too dependent on Kerr. The talent falls away dramatically after her. No surprise we got bundled out if Sam doesn't do something special.

As for the Socceroos ...
... that 25 minutes after half-time whether it was due to complacency or fatigue in the heat was slop giving a poor team like Vietnam some decent chances. Lucky they didn't score. We won't get away with that rubbish in the remaining three qualifiers if we dish that up again.
Right on cue.

Can't see us qualifying for the World Cup especially while Arnold remains in charge. Once again we revert to a negative mindset  trying to sit on one goal leads gifting possession to the opposition even when they are clearly inferior. Just plain dumb :banghead. Add also Arnie taking off our most talented player when we needed to win yet keeping on those who were continually turning the ball over :facepalm. He has to go!

“WE’RE IN BIG TROUBLE”: BOSNICH TEES OFF AT SOCCEROOS COACH ARNOLD

“We are producing completely robotic players,” the former Socceroo told 1170 SEN Drive.

“Regardless of robotic players or regardless of anything else, you should not be drawing with Oman in an important World Cup qualifier, you should not be drawing with China in an important World Cup qualifier.

“Right now, we’re in big trouble in terms if we come third.

“If we come third my belief, and I’ve said this before, is that we will not qualify. This comes down to the manager.

“I really do think that Football Australia have to have a serious think if we go into the playoff - is Graham Arnold is the right man to lead us into those playoff games?

“After what I have seen during the World Cup qualifiers, as well as the Asian Championships, the answer to that question right now in my opinion is no.

The Socceroos will be without star midfielder Tom Rogic for upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Japan and Saudi Arabia.

Rogic was forced off with an ankle injury early in Celtic’s 4-0 win over Ross County on Saturday.

It’s another huge blow for the Socceroos who are already without Aaron Mooy (COVID), Jackson Irvine (COVID), Craig Goodwin (close contact) and Riley McGree (injured) for Thursday night’s clash against the Samurai Blue.

Defender Kye Rowles has also been ruled out after testing positive to COVID-19, while coach Graham Arnold also returned a positive test.

Sydney FC captain Alex Wilkinson and Kuwait-based defender Ryan McGowan have been added to the squad.

Not for tonight's loss but hopefully this means the end of Arnold and his dud negative tactics and gamestyle mentality  :thumbsdown that cost  us this WC qualifying campaign.

NSW soccer media and key football identities piled on Ange constantly. They wanted their Sydney boy Arnold in charge, so they are getting exactly what they deserve. He plays all his NSW faves.

Now the same NSW people want Arnold gone. What goes around comes around I guess.

Don't blame Ange for not wanting anything to do with Aussie soccer anymore. The Sydney clique inside the sport and in the media only want to give jobs to their mates. Ange was from Melbourne so they shafted him. Just like the NSL/Soccer Australia days this Sydney clique have once again screwed soccer in this country and especially the national teams :thumbsdown.

'I've given my best': Graham Arnold.

Football Australia is canvassing options about how to approach the sudden-death matches, including sticking with Arnold or sacking him and installing a new coach.

We've now got to get past UAE and then Peru to qualify. That won't happen if Arnold remains.

Graham Arnold to remain as Socceroos coach to the end of the World Cup campaign.

----------------------------------------------------

Chair of Football Australia Chris Nikou said in a statement: “The Board of Football Australia believed it was important that we provided a stable environment and to get on with planning for the play-off phase given the very short turn-around.

“By confirming that Graham will remain Head Coach of the Socceroos until the completion of our FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022TM campaign, it enables Graham, his support staff and the playing group to move forward with certainty, and without delay, to ensure the best possible preparation for the next phase of qualification.”

Football Australia CEO James Johnson added: “Graham has Football Australia’s support and after nearly four years in the role, still has the opportunity to finish the job he was appointed to in 2018 and see through his commitment to the national team.

“We now turn our sights to the difficult play-off stage in June, our final opportunity to qualify for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022TM.

“As we have done throughout the campaign, we will work closely with Graham to ensure the team has the necessary resources, support and the approach required to achieve the best possible outcome and ultimately qualification to our fifth consecutive FIFA World Cup.”

The Socceroos take on the UAE in Qatar on June 7.

The official 2022 FIFA World Cup draw has arrived!

Australia will be placed in Group D, should they qualify.
