Nope

It will be a poo fight, there are huge protests there that are starting to turn violent, safety & corruption is a massive concern, there's even talk they may move the whole thing to the US

+ can't be stuffed flying 40 hours to find my overpriced hotel overbooked leaving me with nowhere to stay, then getting to my seat to find 20 people sitting in it

+ The host cities are too difficult to travel between if you only have a day or two between games

Better off going to Montevideo or Buenos Aires and watching it from there if you want the vibe without the headfuck

thats true Gerks but il be in the states from early May, so im over that side

family straight home from Miami and away to go meet the fellas there.

i only want to see one Australia game and one game in Rio. If we score some joint like Recife well then il stay in Rio and watch 2 games.

12 night trip max. Private apartments are the way i book these days. Did it in NYC last year and paid peanuts for a big 2 bedroom apt on level 30 direct with the owner.  Hotels are a waste of money.

Give it up Frank. They aren't going to give back the money. The world cup would of been a great event to hold but in hindsight the money would of been better spent on growing not just soccer but all sports at grass root level across Australia.

Quote
FFA chief Frank Lowy has demanded that FIFA, world soccer's governing body, pay back the $43 million worth of Australian taxpayer dollars wasted in the futile World Cup bid as questions over the probity and the desirability of staging the competition in Qatar continue to mount.
Australia, with significant government support and funding, staged a lengthy but ultimately pointless campaign to win the right to stage the 2022 renewal of the world's biggest sporting event.
At a controversial meeting of FIFA's executive in Switzerland in December 2010  it was revealed that tiny middle eastern nation Qatar had won the right to host the 2022 World Cup in the northern hemisphere summer - despite the fact that temperatures in the Persian Gulf regularly topped the 40 degree mark at that time of the year.
Australia was one of the first contenders eliminated , having secured only one vote in a campaign built around the fact that FIFA wanted to stage the tournament in the middle of the year.

A) why shouldn't the FFA get the money back? FIFA has 'changed the goal posts' by moving the WC to the middle of the domestic football season. Its not a realistic scenario. la liga and the EPL are not going to shut for a year.

B) the bid was  good idea. A WC in Austria would have made billions at a small outlay (40 odd million bid) and word have changed the changed the sporting landscape in this country forever. A world cup in Australia would grow the sport immeasurable. 50$m was worth the risk.
