Reckon you'll find 3 or 4 from yesterdays side wont play in the starting starting 11 come the Chile game. Troisi, McGowan, and 1 of Holland/Milligan will make way.
Plus we changed our formation slightly and went with 1 def mid instead of the usual 2. Jedinak and bresc will come into the midfield. Spiranovic will definitely come in for McGowan who struggled. Spewing Good and Williams are injured, both would have started imo. Whats bailey Wright like? eff me we are scraping the bottom of the barrel when it come to centre backs...
Oar and Leckie are fast and dangerous attackers, Leckie though needs to work on his final ball, got into a shedload of good positions with his pace but final ball was schoolboy standard. Holland had a poor game but was asked to play a slightly different role, toss up between him and milligan to support jedinak, cant play all 3, although we may have to for defensive cover given how poor our centrebacks are.
Loved the tempo we started with yesterday, first 25mins were very good, we seemed to tire and then went to a very dull safe mode. Biggest thing for me was our final ball, we give away the ball like that at the WC and we will get sliced on the counter by the Netherlands and Chile. Good thing is Spain will have about 80-% possession so we wont have it enough to give it away.
We look a lot quicker and slicker already which is a vast improvement on where we were at, but still have plenty of work to do. I still reckon we will surprise with how competitive we'll be at the WC.
What I think will be our stock starting lineup
---------------------------------------Ryan---------------------------------
Franjic--------------------Wilkinson-----Spiranovic--------------Davidson
------------------------Jedinak---------------Milligan-----------------------
Leckie----------------------------Bresciano-------------------------Oar----
-----------------------------------Cahill--------------------------------------
Think Rogic, kennedy, Troisi and Halloran all have important roles to play off the bench.
