Ramps how do you expect A-League clubs to develop youth? the youth league is only 18 or so months old and is more or less a U21 comp. give it 5-10 more years before judging.

Melbourne Victory does not have junior sides (U12's, 14's etc.) so the 'wog' clubs still have a very important role to play.

if you look at some of best young players of late like Leijer or Sprinaovic they have started at Melbourne Croatia before going to Victory, then England and Germany.

Mitch was poor for the games i saw him play at South Melbourne.

Probably a fair result in the end. Mexico dominated most of the first half and SA the second in a pretty good game to watch that was full of decent chances. At least it wasn't the snore fest of Uruguay and France  :P. The French have all this attacking talent and their manager played one man up front  ???.

LOL @ England  :rollin

You just realise how dependent the EPL is on foreign players especially strikers when the Poms have the likes of Heskey in their team  :help.

I see the Greeks are in mourning. Very quiet here today  :whistle.

South Korea were a good advertisement for the AFC countries however IMO the Socceroos aren't in their class  :-\.

Well I suppose one good thing about OER being missing for the last 3 days is that it has given all the soccer fans a chance to calm down and reflect

What a shocker by the Aussie - hopefully reality has cleansed the soul  :rollin :rollin

the greeks were disgraceful in game 1 ... the aussies were more so in their game. No decent youth coming through it seems. If Australia doesnt get the World Cup in 2022 then soccer in this country is screwed. The FFA has spent way to much time trying to get the A League clubs to succeed- that in itself has been a failure with all the franchises losing millions of dollars, and the youth system has been shot to pieces by the FFA and there A League clubs as well.

With everyone having played a game now yep we've easily got that title.

Embarrassing "effort"  ::). Our shirt this WC makes us look like a schoolboy team and we played like one. When you see Garcia named as a lone striker you know we're screwed. Laughable line-up by Pim. What was he also thinking changing formation for the WC after 2.5 years sticking to a completely different formation for the qualifiers. Mind you it wouldn't have made much difference. The Germans really showed that the Socceroos are too old and slow. Ghana's strikers will expose Moore and Neill as well. A massive rebuild now required post this WC.

The title of choker though goes once again to Spain losing to the Swiss. They are the Collingwood of World Cups  ;D.

Ghana’s Ibrahim Ayew has revealed his sides plan to attack Australia when the two nations meet in Rustenburg on Saturday.

Zamalek’s attacking midfielder knows the Socceroos have weaknesses following their 4-0 opening match loss to Germany and after the Ghanaians managed a narrow win over Serbia, the opportunity is there for the Africans to meet a side when they are down and make the most of their goalscoring chances.

"Australia must know we are going to attack and attack them," Ayew told News Ltd.

"We are not there to just defend, we are going to go all out. We will dominate them.

"We know they have some weak sides and we will take advantage. We are young and we are really going to use our pace."

It would be great to embarrass them after mouthing off like this publicly but sadly the Germans also boasted how they would beat us and the Socceroos didn't even give a whimper in return  :P.

When you have won 3 World Cups you can boast all you like. Aussies were just woeful. Coached awfully and prepared woefully. Pim is the Terry Wallace of World Cup coaches. Charlatan.

Great result for the Greeks last night. At least they will go home with some pride unlike some others who probably wont score a point because there national competitions are rooted.
