List cuts
« on: July 08, 2024, 06:40:34 PM »
If we are going to load up in this years draft we will have to shed 7/8 players.

2 of these will be due to picking up 2 extra players in the mid season draft.

Possible retirees Grimes, Martin, Naismith and Prestia.

Possible trades Rioli, Dow, Baker, Ralph Smith and Graham

Possible delistings Cumberland Coulthard.

Add KMac to the retire/delist pile. Ditto Colina.

Trade Short. Graham delist or trade

I work in Africa and they were taking the pee out of me for saving Africa.......

We’ve got 21 players currently due to come out of contract at seasons end. Plentyyyyyy of scope for an overhaul.

Yze last night specifically named Lynch and Prestia as really important going forward.

From our list changes 2025 thread:

Only real changes for me are additions of Naismith and Cumberland.

If the right deal for Lynch comes we should trade him. Pay some of his salary to get a good pick for him.

Baker & Rioli I would keep. Would be happy with either as captain.

Short, Graham, trade.

Pickett get to 100.

Retire Grimes, Prestia, KMac.

Dusty???? Who knows.

Also ready to cut Dow, not sold on the likes of Banks, Coulthard, Trezise etc.

Still feel the same about Lynch if anyone wanted to take him for 2025 pushing for a flag. Just ice him for the rest of 2024 so he's not injured again.

Baker and Rioli I would still keep if they're prepared to stay.

Still happy to trade Short & Graham. Add Bolton to that list given he has currency, is contracted, and we hold the cards. I don't see him as a leader for a rebuild.

Pickett can be de-listed although I do think it's worth getting him to 100 games - should never burn the potential F/S bridge on any player IMO.

Still believe we should retire Grimes & Prestia. They are hopelessly unable to stay on the park. Add Naismith to this list obviously. KMac I think should be de-listed or retired as much as I like the bloke it's time to move on.

Dusty IMO I would only keep him if he's being paid a modest amount and shows some motivation but IMO he looks disinterested and not worth anything more than $400-600k absolute max.

Still happy to cut Dow, Banks, Coulthard and probably Trezise. Probably Cumberland also. Haven't seen enough to warrant keeping them or playing them but we may as well give them a crack this year and see how they go.

Out duds and 30 plus year olds with nothing left to offer.. Sheesh there will hardly be anyone left.

If we are serious about rebuild then i reckon 10 is a minimum.

Hoping we are not just thinking ND. Lots of ways to value add. Target the best state leaguers, look at f/a and trades.

Trades

Baker - reckon he is  as good as Gone. Should be a pretty handy pick coming our way.
Graham -  for a pack of crispy cremes. I am partial to crispy cremes. Don't think we would get a lot for him tbh.
Short - pick 11110000  just want him gone. Unfortunately he is contracted for god knows how many more years. Only way to get rid of him give him away. Won't happen but one can hope.

Retire,
Martin i think he will give it away.

tap on the shoulder to retire gracefully.
McIntosh, Pickett, Grimes, Naismith.

Delist
Dow, Colina, Coulthard, Mansell, Cumberland.

Left in the gun needing significant improvement next year.

Ralphsmith, Sonsie, M Rioli, Clarke, Young, Green, Banks, Ryan and Kossie.

If Lynch wanted to go to another club for a last shot at a flag and it got us a real good pick then i think i would do it. Tom is not going to play in another premiership with us.

His experince and knowledge would be invaluable.
I think a club lacking a quality kpf who think they can win it would pay plenty for him. these are the dilemma's.

Any way i think 10 out  is realistic given the list where we are at and the overall performances of those going.
Plenty of clubs have been known to cut  deeper.

Mansell is contracted. Another 2 years.

Agree otherwise I'm everything claw.

I'd have given Mansell 1 year at most as a bit of a mongrel that's about it.

Of course he should be in the gun. He has done sweet stuff all since we have had him. So your okay with giving absolute underperformers like him three year contracts now thats a joke.
I didn't give him the ridiculous three yr contract by the way.
