Richmond AFLW captain Katie Brennan remains in contention for Saturday’s Dreamtime in Darwin clash, with the Club to give her every chance to overcome an ankle complaint.

"Katie injured herself during the second quarter of last Saturday's game against Melbourne. We will monitor her closely the next couple of days, with the hope that she will be okay to travel to Darwin," High Performance Manager Eliza Morrison said.

Meanwhile, Tamara Luke (shoulder) will also be tested ahead of the marquee match in the Northern Territory, as well as replacement player Imogen Brown (ankle).

Gotta say disappointed this game isn't in Vic to help build brand and rivalry here. But anyway..
Go Tigers!

Katie Brennan selected

But based on howxshe was hobbling last week after she hurt her ankle would be a massive surprise if she plays

Serious question
Apparently the club asked to wear the pride jumper again this week

Seeing as we were meant to wear a Dreamtime jumper this week

Does this mean the club decided to ditch the Dreamtime jumper and go with the pride jumper?

Or was this an error by the club and they forgot about Dreamtime ???

It’s all so confusing

Not sure where you got the idea about them wanting to wear the pride jumper this week

AFLW pride round was 2 weeks ago. We played Geelong

The Club asked to wear it again last week against Melbourne as a show of support to Kate Dempsey who along with her wife, family and 2 yo daughter copped some of the most horrific homophobic abuse on social media by keyboard cowards. Having read some of it I can honestly say it the term horrific is the only word I would use to describe it

They have not asked to wear it again this week

This is indigenous round and our women will wear our Dreamtime jumper. It is the same design as what the men wore, that was designed by MRJ and his Mum

Sorry
I misread your post on the round 8 thread

And seeing as I don’t watch it, I didn’t know what they wore in r7

So will be a month between wearing the traditional jumper

Go PC correct AFL/AFLW ..

With the dees losing tonight, that all but seals our spot in finals, % is far superior to the only teams outside the 8 that can match our current points even if we drop the next 2 games.

Must say with the incredibly soft draw we had, if we were serious contenders we would have made top4 comfortably.

Essendon v Richmond Preview

Last time they met: Essendon 8.5 (53) defeated Richmond 5.6 (36), round seven, 2023

Ryan Ferguson's side needs a win to keep the charging pack at bay, and the occasion being Dreamtime in the Top End for the first time means there are plenty of storylines in this one. Tigers captain Katie Brennan is a test to play, after hurting her ankle in last week's loss to Narrm, and they will need her in action to be in their best place to win. There is a perfect storm brewing in Essendon's front half for this one, too, with the Tigers the third-tightest defence in the League this year, and the Bombers the worst side at converting inside 50 entries into scores. Essendon works to possess the footy, take marks around the ground, and generally move the ball slowly, which will open the door for the Tigers' backs to settle into their structures and block paths for the forwards.

Ellie McKenzie looms as a danger player, with her line-breaking run and important delivery going forward, so a plan to limit her output by Natalie Wood's side wouldn't go astray. The obvious choice to provide some close checking would be co-captain Steph Cain, whose size and running capacity can match the young star. Meanwhile the Tigers will have a concern of their own, with Bombers defender Maddi Gay having the best season of her career, and largely dictating play coming out of the back half. Playing this season as a pressure forward, this could be a task for Sarah Hosking, against her old teammate no less.

Tip: The Tigers will keep their top four hopes alive. Richmond by seven points.

The round 1 loss to WC is going to bite us big time

Do you have an issue with Indigenous round in the AFL? That Sydney and St Kilda player a pride game every year?

I love the indigenous round
Pride round a farce

The AFL leads all the nonsense

Still waiting for the white middle aged male round in the AFL .. it’s about all that’s missing .. but hey, that’s nots trendy is it

Will be fun when round 21 next year in the AFL is “Furry Round” or whatever they are .. let’s honour those that identify as animals AFL

Katie Brennan has done her own shorter training session separate from the group. Run-throughs, change of direction, circling cones, kicking with a trainer.
Hosking, Lavey, Shevlin and Yassir on light loads.
Temp: 33, humidity 60%
