Tigers’ burning question: Should we be worried about them ‘winning’ the spoon?

At one stage Richmond was three games and percentage ahead of West Coast, and level on wins with Sydney and Melbourne. But after a solid few weeks of form capped off by the fall-from-ahead loss to GWS, the young Tigers have fallen off a cliff, losing four games by a combined 263 points. It makes sense they would get tired across the season, plus we all knew being 3-6 was a bit of a misnomer about how good the Tigers actually were. But it’s concerning with the Eagles, outside of last week against GWS, showing much improved form. The two bottom sides play each other next week in the west; so, if the Tigers can win on Saturday night, in arguably their next-best shot at a fourth win for the season, that’d go a long way to ensuring they don’t cop another wooden spoon.

Bollocks, they don't deserve it IMO.

Got a good staff hand and a star in the making already.

Plus that Ginbey is a good defender for his size sheesh

Really? Going by what Dillon and Swann said today, they are (rightly) no chance

it wouldnt be the first time these commie bastards talk bs, but i think given they have repeated it several times i dont think they will budge.

it doesnt mean they wont help them in other areas like FA. Flying ryan may want out, so who knows what they will get for that  :shh

West coast have willingly traded picks, so why would they get a compensation? Makes no sense at all

If they give them a 2nd rounder who really cares. The only thing we have to worry about is comp picks which fall before our 1st 2 picks.

Would love it if prior to season's end Gibcus got a senior game and Armstrong got a few more games.

Seems likely I reckon. Both to come back into the AFL side for last 2-3 games.

Someone has changed his tune.

Richmond: Hot

“They’ve gone to the draft and they’ve taken a whole heap of kids… A lot of them look okay,” Mark Bickley said.

“They’ve exposed lots of their young talent this year, and we’ve seen them win 5 games.

“Players like (Tim) Taranto and (Jacob) Hopper have been in good form, and have supported those younger players.

“They’re gonna improve again you would think next year.

“So, I’m not saying they’re gonna jump up and be in the 8, but I think their trajectory is going to be moving forward.”

They can ask but that doesn't mean they will receive

4 years they've been a bottom dweller.

It's not that I don't think they deserve it based on prior examples/criteria, I just don't think it's a good system at all.

true

but they cannot and shouldn't be rewarded for idiotic trades

I mean , what was it 3 first round draft picks for Tim Kelly? He was worth 1 and a 2nd rounder but not multiple first rounders

that's just terrible list management

Richmond is closer to success than expected

Coming into the season there was a genuine concern that the Tigers might only land one or two wins given their young and inexperienced list. It seemed like a tough road ahead for second-year coach Adem Yze, but the club is well ahead of expectations at this point of the year. Yes, there are still some significant inconsistencies week to week, and quarter to quarter, but the ability to turn momentum, and take assets away from the opposition is already in the young Tigers' kit bag. With two games remaining for the season after Saturday's loss to St Kilda, five wins under their belt, and plenty of experience pumped into a host of young players, Richmond has achieved everything it needed to and more in 2025 to propel back up the ladder in the coming seasons.
