I’ve warmed a lot on Taylor, think he will be a jet.

I’m not sold on our backline or any line for that matter being good/deep enough to pass on best available talent. I think Sharp is better so would prefer to take him but if the recruiters think it’s Taylor then no issue with that either.

I think this is a good call.

You might be a Rance. Vlastuin. Type foundation from. Trainor and Taylor.
.then hopefully. Brown. Gibcus. Etc. Join the party.

All of the big6 you can man a case for.

Duursma.
CDT.
Robey.
Taylor.
Sharp.
Cumming.

As i said earlier Taylor fits a need in fact just about any type still fits a need for us.
Taylor to me  would be a great Vlastuin replacement just a bit taller with a few more athletic attributes and a bit quicker.

We are in great need of a quality ruckman also Duff Tytler fits to a tee.

We need mids the safest bet in the entire draft is Sharp. He has the runs on the board.

My personell like is a west Aussie.  atm i think if he gets to us  duff-tytler the best tall in the draft and a genuine ruckman  is the go and Sharp address real needs.  they dont address our need for some speed though.

I still like Hunter Holmes a lot but im wondering if he will get to pick 38 reckon with his athletic pedigree and rapid improvement he will go well before then.
Can just see on each wing athletic hard running beasts like Retschko and Holmes.

Im hoping we can split pick 4 for a later top 10 pick and another around pick 12. Melbournes two picks would suffice but pick 4 alone won't do it.

Draft prospect Ollie Greeves did a replacement 2km time trial today in front of recruiters at Collingwood's athletics track after missing the Combine through illness. Completed it in 6:47 minutes, a good result after a block of training and clubs left buoyed by his run. @AFLcomau

The final draft order is in ahead of next week. Maximum 74 live selections, which of course will not all be used on the night.

They also said if we choose Xavier Taylor instead of Grlj then at 33 someone like Sam Allen would be on our radar.

I feel like that's a bit of a drop off for Sharp? Bloke has been top 5 basically all year.

OP has done it in tiers and has Robey. Taylor. Sharp a 'level' above the others.

T1. Duursma.
T2.
T3. CDT
T4. Robey. Taylor. Sharp.

Everyone else t5. And below.

* Of the open draft players

I still wonder if this is a reflection of grij true ranking or if it's skewed by so many mocks having him linked to Richmond due to 'need'. Perceived lack of speed from last year's draft.

TK previously tracked sharp via twomey:

Just out of curiosity I went back on all twomeys phantom form guides that he’s done for the 2025 crop in July, August, September, October. Just wanted to see the risers/fallers and who was just super consistent throughout.

My understanding is that his form guides are just that, rankings based on performances to date whereas his next/last one will be his mock draft which he takes into consideration the intel he’s gotten from clubs about where everyone will be taken which is usually bang on.

Dursma 3, 3, 1, 1
Uwland 1, 1, 2, 2
CDT 2, 2, 3, 3
Patterson 4, 4, 4, 4
Annable 5, 5, 5, 5
Robey N/A, N/A, 6, 6
X.Taylor 15, 9, 7, 7
Dean 10, 8, 8, 8
Sharp 6, 6, 9, 9
Cumming 13, 12, 15, 10
Schubert 9, 13, 10, 11
Grlj 12, 11, 13, 12
Farrow 21, 14, 12, 13
Lindsay 7, 7, 11, 14
Phillipou 17, 17, 17, 15
Greeves 11, 15, 16, 16
Marsh 8, 10, 14, 17
Dovaston 24, 20, 18, 18
O.Taylor N/A, 22, 20, 19
Hargreaves 18, 16, 19, 20

So essentially at our picks it has gone from Sharp and Lindsay in July and August to Robey and X.Taylor in September and October.

re: bold, yes I think so. Aside from his impressive combine results I haven't heard that's he's been tearing it up. He's just a quick kid, very agile etc.

It's a good list from TK. Robey the clear bolter and Taylor to a lesser extent.

I'm still primarily keen now on Sharp + Robey. If we end up with Taylor instead of one of those two that would be OK. As for Grlj...I'm really not sure. Aside from the greath athletics I'm less convinced by his 2025 overall, from what I've heard.

Defo skewed on Grlj based on links to us rather than his true rankings against the rest of the class. Had a good year no doubt and obviously brings some very desirable AFL traits to any team that takes him, but you don’t reach at the top end of the draft Spesh early in a rebuild. If we are pushing up the ladder / contending and we have specific holes in our list then by all means draft for need but at this point our whole list is a hole.

Taylor has steadily risen up the boards, I take that as showing steady natural improvement throughout his U18 year as opposed to Robey who has just exploded in the last few months.

Sharp is still a bizarre one to me, I think he was touted as no.1 pick in the last couple of years and while his performances have been consistently at the top level, I get the sense that clubs just don’t think he has much more room for growth beyond what he is now and that the game is moving away from the pure in and under contested midfielder type and now prioritises hybrid mid/fwds or mids that can spread from stoppages.
