Injury Report: Round 24, 2025High Performance Manager Ben Serpell provides this week’s Injury Report as Richmond prepares for its last game of the season against Geelong this Saturday.
Luke Trainor: Hamstring, Available“Unfortunately for Luke, we pulled him out of the game over the weekend,” Serpell said.
“He reported a bit of hamstring tightness, and we wanted to go conservative there with him. We didn’t want to cause a big issue for an 18-year-old.
“He has already played 20 games this year, so subsequent scans revealed that there is no issue, and he will get through training this week and will be available to play this weekend.”
Samson Ryan: Foot, Available
Campbell Gray: Knee, Available“I’m really looking forward to seeing Samson out there playing this weekend,” Serpell said.
“It was a long way to return for him, but he has got through all of the work over the last few weeks, being tested quite comprehensively, and we are confident that he can get some game time this weekend.
“Also, for Campbell Gray, sustaining back-to-back knee injuries, he is doing quite well, and again, I’m looking forward to him playing this weekend.
“He probably could have played last week, but having missed so much game time, we just wanted to get a little bit more training into him."
Jacob Blight: Ankle, Available“Blighty was carrying a rolled ankle in the game prior, and unfortunately, this weekend, felt as though he wasn’t capable of playing,” Serpell said.
“He got through the weekend no problems and will be available to play this week.”
Mykelti Lefau: Calf, 1 week“We can say that we will keep him out this week and test him next week,” Serpell said.
“He will hopefully be available for selection if we get past the Wildcard round this week in the VFL.”
Josh Smillie: Quad, 1-2 weeks“As we reported a long time ago, the quad injury was very minor and he has gone on leaps and bounds these last couple of weeks,” Serpell said.
“We will hopefully make him available for some VFL Finals if we get a little bit deeper into that."
Tom Sims: Elbow/Foot, Season“We just put Simsy through some routine end-of-season medicals, and we noticed that there was a navicular stress fracture in his foot,” Serpell said.
“Unfortunately, that is going to require surgery, and we are not too sure when that is going to be because we want to see how his elbow resolves.
“He is going to go through a period of time where he will be on crutches, so we will book his surgery in the next couple of weeks and get some direction from the surgeon after that. Then we will have an idea of where he returns in preseason.”
Sam Lalor and Jonty Faull update“Jonty is out of the brace now and walking around with a smile,” Serpell said.
“He has started his rehab already, and hopefully he will be running in the next week or two.
“Sammy is doing exceptionally well. We have seen him out there doing a good body of work, getting some good running in.
“We will hopefully pick up the intensity over the next little while, and both of them should be available for a full preseason training routine in November.”
