Question would be, if this is the case, are we willing to split with a first round pick? What would a trade look like?

It would take both our firsts this year and a 1st or 2nd next year too.

I’m not interested in any big name trades for Atleast the next 2 seasons. We just need to stick to the plan and keep bringing in the most talented players via the draft. If there is FA opportunities then absolutely but with where our list is at, I’d be focusing on the draft still.

Yes and the rest of it?

An emphatic NO from Port Adelaide

He will play out his contract and then the FA sweepstakes will be in 2026

Why would they trade him this year?
He’s under contract and they can match the deal offered by clubs next year forcing a dutch auction amongst clubs vying for his services.
Oh and as bad as this years draft looks, next year’s is shaping up as an all time cracker.
This is clearly the best play by Port and it gives us some rough chance if we can win 7 or 8 games and still have a top 5 pick.
"The money might have been better. But, at the end of the day, Richmond showed faith in me. It's only fair that now we're 18th on the ladder, I show the faith back in the club and do everything I can to put them in front. In the end, I'm stoked I made the decision to stay. I f***ing love this club”

I’ve heard next years draft is also average.

I don't see what difference it makes.

Clubs can make offers now and they can consider. Some clubs will have great hands this year and not next year.

If he's not an UFA it doesn't really matter IMO - either the compo is enough or it's a bidding war.

If we are to go after Butters, it will be next year when he becomes a restricted free agent.

The Western Bulldogs would be prepared to offer upwards of $1.7m over at least 8 years tomorrow if Butters became available.
But he’s the club’s best player by some distance & is a restricted free agent in 12 months time. The Power would be able to match any deal to force a trade

Will be compromised after this year anyway.

I don't see the big difference.

Then you have no idea how good next year’s draft is going to be

None at all.

I know we've got an NGA guy who looks decent for the first time ever.

Once compromised by Tas, how much better is it likely to be?

Port could also load on up 2026 picks as well this year.

i hope we pick up a FA or DFA and start now.

we lucked out on rosaas so YZE better step up to the plate. Whatever they spun didn't work.

There is no way we are paying up to the cap this year with this list.
