Tony Shaw's list of gawners after the game yesterday.......

Edwards - goer but too small
Bowden - doesn't play with passion and desire
Polo
Jackson - turns it over
Schulz - non competitive
Hislop - from another club. Just another player who won't take you anywhere.
Tambling - non competitive
White
King - turns it over

So Tony lists 2 of our best as "gawners" no wonder no one takes him seriously :wallywink

Ramps - who would pencil in a Richmond premiership 21/22
Given our current list?

I'm not so sure about Mr. Grigg. apron reflection.

I'm not s sure about high apron reflection.

Havent thought about it but I imagine a fair amount of players necessary for us to win the flag are already at Punt Road. I would like us to somehow try and get 2 more A class players into the side as that would help us enormously IMHO.

Vlaustin could be that one Ramps.

Would need Martin, Conca to step up also.

Add another quality ruckman we have the talks and the players in the right age group.

Just need to find the right 22-25 and settle.

so does anyone want to do a current day not future richmond premiership players.
given the current state of the list id say we are a minimum 3 yrs away from a premiership.

i strongly believe we need a large  over haul of the talls on the list. and we sure as hell need to find quality sml/med forwards not to mention we coukld do with 3 or 4 more good to high quality mids especially on the outside.

when i say overhaul of talls lets look.

astbury - no one can deny atm hes at best a 50/50 prospect. yes hes had injuries but he struggles to get a kick at coburg and for a 4th yr player that aint good.
chaplin -  is 27 28 in feb. will he be playing in 3 yrs time.  he does have issues with his body.
darrou - rookie has he done enough to be elevated off the rookie list i dont know.
derickx - just hasnt done enough and is likely to be cut this yr.
elton - only in yr 2 lets hope he develops into a decent player. could be nearing his best in 3 yrs time.
griffiths - see astbury.
grimes  - can play but will he ever be injury free.
maric - 28yr old in jan. has chronic hip and groin probs a fair question is will he be around in 3 yrs time and if so will he be anywhere near his best.
mcbean - looks the most promising of all our talls in 3 yrs could be nearing optimum weight and size and capable of playing good footy at the level.
mcguane - should have been cut 5yrs ago is not afl standard.
mcintosh - skinny first yr player who shows promise there are no guarantees though.
rance - well i wont go there except to say i think we need to find a better defensive kpd. will he end up at wce.
riewoldt - will be 27 and in his prime if he doesnt end up at freo.
stephenson - well hes 31 and ordinary wont be there.
vickery - if he makes it will be 26 in 3 yrs time and in his prime. imo the most over rated tall on the list.

it is totally reasonable to say theres a good chance that   8 of the 15 talls we have wont be there in 3 yrs time.
it was an urgent issue 5 yrs ago its even more urgent now. we must address this if premierships are indeed the aim.

Meh, I dunno, maybe they are hoping to sneak into the finals this year, get flogged in the first round and then commence a slide back down the ladder

do the simple exercise of
no riewoldt who holds the forward line together. whos the next best vickery bloody hell in an ideal world he would be at coburg earning a game.and im still asking is he a genuine forward or just a soft ruckman resting there.

no chaplain who holds defense together. rance the man who cant defend one on one. should be playing third tall at best.

no maric who plays first ruck. orren stephenson bloody hell.what young ruckman is coming thru mcbean well hes a forward id say.
have a good look and you will see an absolute chasm between these three and the next best we have.  the simple truth is we cant replace em and there is little to suggest those coming thru will be decent players.in fact the younger blokes coming thru have underperformed.
the cupboard is almost bare when it comes to talls.

i still say god help us if we cop a bad run of injury and we havent had one for yrs.
for as long as i can remember our tall depth and quality has been in this state.
