Honestly if you had a player to pick would you pick Rowell over daicos?

No id take bont.

No you wouldn't cause he is 30 years old

lol what does this hypothetical question have to do with age. Assuming the point the question was trying to make was that naicos is a better player but the award doesn’t always go to the best player in the comp.

In regards to diacos v Rowell while diacos is better overall Rowell is ranked higher in the ratings. Top3 for clearance and contested possessions in afl

Carlscum are a top contested possession team but where did they finish. The concussion rules mean contested is far less important than it was. I suspect once the AFL get sued we may be forced to go Gaelic and ban the tackle of a sort.

Geelong are first for hard ball gets. Brisbane for centre clearance.

Concussion rules or not it's still a pretty good start to get the ball like Rowell does

The tackle is already banned. Look at the chol 3 weeks.

It's only fair that now we're 18th on the ladder, I show the faith back in the club and do everything I can to put them in front. In the end, I'm stoked I made the decision to stay. I f***ing love this club”

If the award hadn’t lost all credibility after Cripps’ record breaker, then it has now.

Rowell is a great player, but games where he polled 3 votes without even being in the best 10
On the ground is ridiculous

It's credibility had been shaky prior to that. That the only players that win now are midfielders says it all really

Yep, the midfielder's medal is getting out of hand.  The emphasis on centre clearance is fuelled by the media, it then trickles down to & influences the umpires too.  Centre clearances make for fast play & fast scoring, which the AFL itself loves, so more influence is exerted on the umpires to favour the midfielders with votes.  But really, when you think about it, the midfielders get a huge advantage from the 45mtr square around them that grants them a couple of seconds to get a disposal away!  They are the only players on the ground who get that much time & space to operate in!
If we ever want to see another 100 goal season from a forward they only have to extend the goal square out to 45mtrs!  Kick a ton & win a Brownlow from full forward - if only!      :cheers
Once a Tiger, always a Tiger!  Loud, proud & dangerous!

It was a one-man show at the Tigers as Tim Taranto led the club's votes for the third straight year (he was equal with Shai Bolton at the top in 2024). The midfielder's return of 20 was a career-high and included five best-on-ground performances. The Tigers had just five players poll, with Taranto landing 20 of their 33 votes.

Nick Vlastuin polled his first votes since 2020 and Sam Banks the first of his career.

The criticism of the umpires is well deserved and about time. I hope the decision making will be taken away from the umpires but doubt the AFL has the courage to do so.

There's always been conjecture about votes from certain games. It's been going on forever.

It's clearly become more of an issue since the TV coverage increased with every game now being shown

But what's the biggest change in the last couple of years when we've had the winners getting 40 odd votes?

The 4 umpire system. Not a doubt in my mind the impact it has had on the count.

You take the voting away from the umps who do you give it too? The media, a panel of past players?

It's easy, almost simplistic to say the umps shouldn't do the voting but it would be bloody hard to determine who should
