Where’s Tiger71 at with his 99% prediction?
Haven't seen him pop up yet on social media.
He's finally appeared on X/twitter.

Another poster: Big L for the tiger cast boys today

Tiger71: Cheers for that mate. Most thought he was cats bound, funny as of today all are saying they knew he was a dog lol. We stand by what we shared, its what we were told. Obviously by your reaction you dont rate our content, so as a gift, going to block ya.

Tiger71: The mail we had we knew the cats were not in it and the main stream media for some reason were pushing it. It came down to who could easily get a deal done and somehow the dogs convinced port they could. Hope we bid at pic 2 lol

Never been a fan of Tiger71, dont follow him but others i follow on twitter do, so his post come up in my feed.

All I will say is that it is pretty weak of him to be blocking people because of the flack (rightly) they are copping for getting their Butters predictions so wrong. It you're going to put out guarantees then you cop the whacks that are coming

Just on the Butters situation will confess I wasn't fussed one way or another. It is what it is.

We were visiting friends yesterday down at Phillip Island, one of our friends mad Bulldogs a.  He was clearly over the moon. He had some supposedly "inside" word on a how it supposedly played out, wont go into details as there's very little point. But was adamant that a trade will get done IF requires

What's that mean?

I doubt port will take pick 5 alone

Glad we missed Zak, would have been a big mistake for our list in my view. Now we get the chance to bring in another 3 top end kids plus Briggs and Tanner Armstrong.

Plus if Leys or Daffy are in the frame we can get them too for nothing. And a delisted free agent if they fit our list need, again for free on a 1 year deal only.

Free agents next year absolutely or even trade in mature needs players. We will likely lose a couple to Tasmania Mansell, Banks and possibly even Nank which will give us extra draft picks.

I agree
Have said the entire way I didn’t want him

The cost was too high for where we’re at

As a side note , imagine calling Rowell a plan B for the dogs .. please let us have a crack at him

It’s going to be epic when Butters picks the tigers  :shh :thumbsup
  :lol

You have no idea how close it was ? :shh

It doesn't matter how "close it was"

Facts are you and others in particular Tiger71 said he was coming to Richmond. At this point in time he doesn't want to so that means he isn't

You and others got it wrong. So own it and move on.

What's that mean?

I doubt port will take pick 5 alone

Pick 5 is a a compo pick right?

But Port have said they will match any bid

So.....

Read what I wrote i said a trade will get done if required.

Trades involve more than just picks do they not? You know sometimes they involve players

Would think if it ends up being a trade it's pretty obvious what will happen  ::)

The inside story on the Western Bulldogs’ pitch that convinced Zak Butters to choose them over Cats, Tigers

The Western Bulldogs have won an intense, three-horse race for Zak Butters’ services. Scott Gullan has the inside story on what separated the Dogs’ pitch from the Cats’ and Tigers’.

Scott Gullan
HeraldSun
September 13, 2026

The Western Bulldogs tugged at Zak Butters’ heartstrings, emphasising how important he was as a role model to the kids of the western suburbs.

And ultimately the chance to follow his childhood dream was enough to see him commit to the red, white and blue.

When Port Adelaide visited him at his Bacchus Marsh home back in 2018, he had posters of Bulldogs superstar Marcus Bontempelli on his bedroom wall.

He loved the club that represented the west and in the end when the financial offers between Geelong and the Bulldogs were in the same ballpark, the Power star followed his heart.

But for a number of times over the past couple of months that hasn’t been the way.

“At different times everyone has been in front,” was how a member of the Butters’ camp described the battle for his services.

There was a sense it wasn’t until the Bulldogs “got real” over the last couple of weeks, increasing their financial offer – by this stage Richmond had inserted itself into the equation with a crazy $18-$19 million offer – and importantly being able to articulate how the deal could get the deal done that they edged their way back in front.

This was at the urging of coach Luke Beveridge who understood the importance more than anyone to get the superstar midfielder to the Whitten Oval.

It’s not too far of a stretch to say he realised that his short-term job security potentially hung on whether they could get Butters or not.

Key club officials took their improved strategy to the Bulldogs board and explained what was required to secure Butters, gaining the powerbrokers’ approval for the “all-in” approach: a nine-year deal that will be the biggest in the club’s history.

In the end the winning move by the Dogs was they were able to convince Butters they could get the deal done.

The last thing the Port star wanted to happen was to be left hanging like Essendon’s Zach Merrett or St Kilda ruckman Rowan Marshall, who failed to get to Geelong last year, even though his situation was different given he was coming out-of-contract.

He needed to be convinced a fair deal could be done with Port who he was determined to make sure they were looked after given how much he loved the club.

It’s understood he felt Geelong weren’t as clear in the pathway to getting him to GMHBA Stadium through next month’s trade period compared to the Bulldogs.

What the deal will ultimately look out will take a lot of sorting and speculation around the No. 5 draft pick the Power will get in free agency compensation for Butters leaving.

A lot of small things helped the Bulldogs.

Butters, 26, got the chance to play with Bontempelli and Ed Richards at this year’s State of Origin game and loved every minute of it.

The signing of Buku Khamis this week wasn’t just a good thing for the Dogs defence but significant in the Butters’ equation given the pair had gone to school together and remained good friends.

There was also a close relationship with forward Rhylee West which helped the situation.

The Bulldogs standing firm on All-Australian ruckman Tim English was also an important flag in the ground as they wanted to project stability to Butters.

And with Adelaide’s Jordon Butts set to come in to bolster the defence and rising superstar Sam Darcy returning from injury, it was easy for Butters to see that the Western Bulldogs were capable of elevating into a legitimate premiership threat.

Significantly Butters found himself at Tom Liberatore’s Seddon pub, the Mona Castle, with friends on Friday night as he watched Geelong fall to Fremantle in an epic semi-final.

He’d already decided he was moving just down the road to the Whitten Oval so for the boy whose heart has always been in the west, a couple of beers with the locals was the perfect celebration.

The tricky part begins: How Port Adelaide and Bulldogs will thrash out Butters deal

OPTION ONE
Let Butters walk, claim first round compensation (No.5 pick). It seems unlikely the Power let Butters walk and claim nothing else.

OPTION TWO
Match the bid, force a trade. Bulldogs currently hold the No.11 and No.29 picks in this year’s draft. They also own all of their future picks in the 2027 and 2028 drafts. Would two first rounders and two second rounders be enough for Butters? Power have been interested in Ryley Sanders and could ask for an established player like him to be involved in any deal. Bulldogs would love to hold onto the No.29 pick to match a bid on NGA talent Khaled El Souki, who is expected to fall around that mark.
Could it be as simple as the No.11 pick, a future first rounder and a future second rounder for Butters?
Would the Western Bulldogs be willing to trade a talented youngster instead of one of the first-round picks?

OPTION THREE
Let him walk, then complete a side trade. It would net Port Adelaide the No.5 pick in the draft, as well as a little bit more. Sanders, a 2027 first rounder and a 2028 second rounder for a 2028 first rounder would give the Power an established player and extra capital to match bids in 2027 for what could end up being a top-five pick in 2028.
If Butters’ inclusion at the Bulldogs catapults the club into premiership contention, it would end up being a pick in the 20s, a pick in the 40s and Sanders for what could be considered a top-five pick, looking at projections. That’s a trade the AFL would tick off.

SEN's Tom Morris has provided a full timeline of how it all went down.

https://x.com/1116sen/status/2099349647953469756

Mid-August: Geelong 1, Dogs 2, Tigers 3

August 24-26: Dogs up offer by $3m. Closer to Tigers and way above Cats. Also pulled on heart strings.

Last Friday: Butters had medical at Dogs & his management told the Dogs he had chosen them.

Sunday: waited until Geelong were knocked out of finals before telling them they had missed out.

I despise the Cats. Their coach has the worst finals record of all current AFL coaches to have more than a handful of finals under their belt.
For all the hype, it is the Cats h and a record that is outstanding which is why I call the summer bay cats….
"The money might have been better. But, at the end of the day, Richmond showed faith in me. It's only fair that now we're 18th on the ladder, I show the faith back in the club and do everything I can to put them in front. In the end, I'm stoked I made the decision to stay. I f***ing love this club”

Exclusive. Clubs to be warned ahead of the player movement period about side deals and any secret arrangements that might break AFL rules. The penalties are severe and include loss of draft picks. The league will work with Port and the Dogs on any potential deals that might be tied into pick 5 as Butters compensation but wants no hidden surprises.

That last sentence completely contradicts the first one. Disgrace if the afl not only allows that but assists with it.

If they are threatening loss of draft picks sounds like they wouldn't assist

I do like the f/s feel good side of the whole thing and same for giving kids out of our acadamy zone a chance.

Oh Daffey as well more likely a rookie pick if we go with him. Another  good reason to turn over 10 or 12 this year
