He won’t come.

Briggs and Riccardi would be pretty sweet

Briggs was delisted by GWS.
Riccardi is actually someone wanted elsewhere which is why he won’t come here
"The money might have been better. But, at the end of the day, Richmond showed faith in me. It's only fair that now we're 18th on the ladder, I show the faith back in the club and do everything I can to put them in front. In the end, I'm stoked I made the decision to stay. I f***ing love this club”

Let's not forget Briggs wasn't even our first choice. :shh

We really are turning into a Basketcase.
Currently a member of the Roupies, and employed by the great man Roup.

I’d rather have Briggs than Madden.

Not what GWS were thinking

Who cares?

For where our list is currently at, I would rather have a 26 year old almost 100 gamer in Briggs then an athletic but extremely unproven 10 gamer in madden. Especially when we may be drafting a 18 year old ruck in a couple months time.

Bailey Macdonald has signed a three-year contract extension to stay at
@HawthornFC
until the end of 2029. Knocked back significant interest from Richmond

You sound a little like you are on the payroll at Richmond.
It’s not exactly a high performance mindset.

Melbourne has backed down on making a play for St Kilda’s Alix Tauru. Dees had some interest but million-dollar price tag from management has caused tremors around the league. Saints hopeful of striking four-year extension. Devils keen, too

Richmond is chasing GWS key forward Jake Riccardi. The Giants have a three-year deal in front of the 26yo, but the Tigers and Essendon have tabled more lucrative offers to return to Victoria @AFLcomau tinyurl.com/ahbwnp4a

TIGERS CHASE GIANTS FORWARD

RICHMOND is chasing out-of-contract Greater Western Sydney key forward Jake Riccardi.

The Giants have a three-year offer on the table to retain the Victorian, but have revised it in recent times.

Riccardi has been assessing his options across 2026 and has more lucrative offers on the table to depart GWS and head home.

AFL.com.au reported Essendon's interest earlier this month, which is in the region where Riccardi went to school at St Bernard's College.

The Tigers are understood to have made a late move for the 26-year-old after already landing a commitment to sign Giants ruckman Kieren Briggs as a free agent when that window opens next Friday.

Riccardi has played 98 games for GWS since being plucked from Werribee after winning the Fothergill-Mitchell-Round Medal in 2019.

The 198cm tall forward kicked a career-high 35 goals in 2023, while last year he played as a second ruck, kicking 23 goals while averaging seven hitouts a game.

Veteran Giants forwards Toby Greene, Jesse Hogan and Jake Stringer are departing the club, creating more opportunities in 2027 and beyond.

But with offers of 3-4 years to move elsewhere, Riccardi faces a big decision while he travels through South America currently.

No mate, I just don’t feel the need to use every thread on the forum as a way to doom and gloom the club.

Give me an actual proven afl ruck over a project player with 10 games experience any day of the week.

We already have 3 project rucks on the list.

From round 9-18 he was one of the elite rucks in the game.

Several 7 tackle games. Clearances.  50+ hit our game etc.

That's reasonably high 'high performance mindset' imho at that price.

It’s not doom and gloom. It is fact based.
Find me a better 3 year period EVER in our clubs history and I will back down.
I lived through the last period of malaise back in the early 80’s through until when Dimma, Peggy and Benny joined.

I learned not to blindly accept what the club told me.

We have no substance. From CEO down.
You don’t see that obviously.
A cult like attachment to the club is the antithesis of scrutiny.

It’s interesting that you cannot build a case that constructively opposes anything you stated that i am stating is doom and gloom. Would be happy to debate it.
BTW, I am happy to say Lloyd Meek has built a decent career at the Hawks after 15 games at Freo.
Perhaps not as athletic as your criteria but my point is our ability to bring a player wanted by his home club where Richmond are actually competing for the player.
Our net deficit stands at 5

You can be down on the club atm and rightly so, I agree with much of what you’re saying. But you repeat end on end on every thread on this forum.

You also do it to a point where even if something positive which goes against your narrative occurs you spin it back into a negative.

You’ve said many times richmond cannot attract any players. True for the most part but such is being a bottom 4 club. West coast is one of the biggest clubs and has atleast a 50% monopoly on WA players who want to move home, and they haven’t managed to lure any big names to them while they have been down too. It’s just the cycle of footy.

Yet when I simply point out that we have atleast managed to lure in Briggs, you firstly dismiss it because he is a delisted player, which is ignoring the fact that he is an UFA, and as one, the giants don’t have any right to match and force a trade, meaning they were forced to delist him. Then you claim he wasn’t our first target, and maybe that’s right but imo he is a better fit for our list right now at 26 and approx. 90 games then a 22 year old 10 game project player.

That isn’t to say we need to be throwing a party because we have reportedly secured 1 player, I have said many times that the footy department are sleeping atm and need to be working harder to 1st delist the many out of contract list cloggers and secondly get on the hunt for mid 20s, 100 game players that can help bridge the gap between our last dynasty and our new cubs coming through.

You can call it blind loyalty if you’d like, but I’d rather be able to form a balanced opinion than look for the negative on every report because your disillusioned with where the club sits atm.

OER best post of 2026

No personal attacks , yet providing a really valid opinion

I am in the camp of “the worlds stuffed”,  regardless of footy

It’s why I have chosen to reside abroad for the time being

But this post genuinely resonated with me for some reason

And I’m the opposite of some soft sissy

For me, great post TK, thank you
