Tezza on tribunal – confused.  Can’t fathom where the rules are going and how the interpretations are done.  There’s been numerous incidents with varying results.

Tezza on Simmo – he doesn’t like press interviews when people use their words and not his words – that’s why he got upset with the journo yesterday.  Don’t put words in his mouth is the warning to journos.

Off field – footy department – very pleasing.  When he arrived knew they were going to have a low base to start with.  A blank sheet and he knew would be restrictive.  He had no problems with that.  But asked that somewhere along the term to be competitive against others.

Sock fines – do they look any worse than the Silvagnis.  He says the cut off socks look better than having socks down.  Looked flabbergasted at the issue lol

Sale of home games – Collingwood were in a poor situation years ago – Carlton have the ability with their supporter base to get back on top.  Says get their act together and play games in Melbourne.  Says we won’t be going anywhere.

Rookies – Cam Howat close to playing seniors.  Angus graham is a long term ruck prospect – improving but not ready.  Need to have as many as other sides to get back on an even playing field.

Raines – hopes he’s close to signing.  Didn’t say anything more than that  :banghead

Said something about Ray Hall and injuries - but i missed that  :wallywink

Terry’s criteria to build a premiership team.

1. Having majority of players in the right age bracket – ideal 22 to 26
2. 3-4 regular under 22 years of age.
3. Some senior citizens, ie paul Williams, Alistair Lynch – the elite like Rob Harveys.

This is the order he sees the clubs likely to win a premiership IF YOU USE THAT FORMULA - from bottom to top obviously.

Essendon – too many ageing blokes.  Re luring players – Tezza says they have to lure a young player into their group.  Got wonderful picks recently Monfries, Rider, Dempsey, Laycock.  Need a young star like Franklin and get him nothing in the second draft, they’re in a good position.

Carlton - in a rebuilding phase

Kangas – recently brought senior players that haven’t worked.  Thompson worked, others haven’t.

Brisbane –

Port Adelaide – know where they are and rebuilding.

Hawthorn – 6 in the under 22 bracket – young side developing – they’re in good shape.

Richmond – 7 in the under 22, - not enough in 22 to 26 – Cogs and Newmo long term injury has hurt us.  Ageing stars well over 26.  Have a go at a premiership while they’re around but have enough of a group coming through to challenge themselves.  He’s looking to set Richmond up for a decade of success.  Would love to have immediate success for the Bowdens, Richos, etc but main aim is to set up a group of players for a 10 year period of success.

Ad break lol

Reminder, this is the position he believes teams "should be" based on his formula of

1. Having majority of players in the right age bracket – ideal 22 to 26
2. 3-4 regular under 22 years of age.
3. Some senior citizens, ie paul Williams, Alistair Lynch – the elite like Rob Harveys.

Western Bulldogs – 9 in middle core – 8 older – a mature team   In similar circumstance to Tiger – got two waves.  Want to try to get a result while West, Darcy, Smith still around – similar to us.  Got a lot of good kids coming through – will be a quality side for a while.

Melbourne – very mature side – right in the realms of where you want to be in best players 22 to 26 years.  Good kids coming through – Bate, Bartram, Dunn – good shape.

West Coast – 16 in 22 to 26 bracket.  Likes them because they haven’t got too many old guys.  Players going to be together for a long period of time – maybe up to 6 years to win one or several premierships.

Pies –  got quality players in the right age bracket – shown this year they can be good.

Swans – question on Sydney is where they’re going to be in four or five years time.  Don’t know how their young kids are developing – we don’t see them so hard to tell.

Geelong –  thought they’d be better.  Can still make it, but same as Saints.

St Kilda  - their planning has been on the right pathway to get a group of guys at the right sort of age

Fremantle – thought the formula he uses they would be successful with their group.  Now mature enough they ought to be playing better footy – pressure on Connolly.

Adelaide – at this stage they’ll win the flag, but things change.  Guys in top age bracket real class.

Michael Rix – fantastic ambassador for the game – work levels, honesty, wonderful person and deserves every opportunity he gets.  Interesting when Kozzie comes back.

Tassie game – caller wants to know is there any inclination for future games – no problems with it, enjoyed the experience.  Would love to do a camp down there and looking at that idea at the moment – seeking approval from AFL to do community camp.  Would like home games though at MCG.  Not in the line of wanting to sell off any games – stay at “G

Thanks for that Moi. Good stuff  :cheers  :thumbsup.

Is Caro still looking deep into Tezza's eyes?  :rollin

Agree with the age breakdown but quality and class is the most important component. No use having a team full of 24 year old Houlihan's, Blumfield's and Billy Nicholls...sorry WP  ;). Spud had the right middle age bracket but the side was full of duds.

Wallace knows exactly where we are at. If the youngsters come on quicker than expected then Joel, Browny, Sugar and co might see a flag in the next 2-3 years but if not then the likes of Lids, Blingers, Rainesy, Polo, etc... will become the base for our 22-26 year old core for most of the next decade. We need to add more young KPPs though.

Terry stirring the pot there with Buddy LOL. Geez it'd be funny if he dumps the Hawks after all the crap their fans have given Tambo. Franklin's only in his second year and already he's thinking of jumping ship  ::) (mind you who would want to play in those colours  ;D ). Thank god we picked up Blingers.

Terry’s thoughts – I’m not including Caros because she's not concentrating on footy  ;)

Michael Gardiner – injuries caught up with him.  Terry interested in how West Coast will treat him until the end of the year if Dean Cox doesn’t regain form and injuries mean they may have to play him.  Richmond got Simmo, Patto, Knobel still on list – not in the big man ranks – looking more to develop a kid for the future.

Aker - he’s a quality player but we’re not considering him.  He’s gone through a lot this year disrupting his footy – a new Aker at a new club would do the job.

Goal kicking at training – okay.  Under pressure situation of a game, hopeless.  We have hit the post the most of all clubs this season.

As a coach looking outside in on Tarrant – where should he play?  Playing half forward earlier in the year he was playing brilliantly.  Maybe he’s not as fit as he was earlier in the season and should go back and look at the tapes of how he was playing.

Nothing on Richmond in this segment - can't imagine why lol

Re Geelong dobbing in Goldspink for abusing players – ask the umpires why if a player swore at an umpire would he report him and not speak to him after a game.  Geelong hasn’t done anything wrong if they weren’t satisfied.  He hasn’t heard of umpires swearing very often, but he reckons the areas out of bounds is where they say things to players about their form or whatever on the ground – I’d imagine he’s referring to the Richo comments last year where the ump said “You better not miss this one Richo” when he was shooting for goal.  Doesn’t mind the banter as long as they don’t step over the line and affect the player’s performance.

Glen Archer – should it be his choice whether he plays on?  Terry believes decision should be taken out of the player’s hands.

Kosi – if the medicos say he’s right to play, let him play.

Joel – terribly disappointed.  Whether the intent was there or not, it’s still a careless action and disappointing to have a player fit and well not being out there.  Good record worth fighting for at the tribunal.  The amount of work he does in the community, he had cause to argue that case.

Newmo and Hartigan lol stealing bread rolls – hoping Brent wasn’t going to eat both of them and actually shared them with Chris.  Skinfolds are coming down so he pleased he didn’t eat the chips and pies lol

Blues $1.5M interest free loan and $500k grant - Although they’ve been in dire straits, the admin has actually reduced the debt.  Problem is they’ve reduced debt so much that their cash flow is a disaster – money will be to pay the bills according to Caro.

Pagan – Freo might have a go at him according to Caro.  Terry says he wouldn’t go further west than the Maribyrnong River lol.  Melbourne based person.  Caro says they have race tracks in Perth lol.  Connolly under pressure – Caro says they should look at Pagan, an experienced coach.

Toyota – resigning with the AFL – Caro asked why wouldn’t they do the launch mid week where they’d get more exposure.  Why did they do it at the Blues/Bulldogs game?  (Who cares – my opinion lol).  Thought it interesting they didn’t sign for longer given the supposed good relationship.

Carlton’s list – what would Terry’s be first priority to strengthen.  Looking for quality players.  Carlton doing the right thing by playing younger players.  Need a quality backman and have Whitnall playing alongside Fevola.  Problem with Carlton was when they were down and out, they had to rejuvenate with players who lasted only 2 or 3 years.  Since they’ve used draft picks, theyv’e looked better.

Hamill – caller asks will he play this year and who will he replace.  Would replace lots of players because a fit and well Hamill with his body strength, replace many players.

Caller asks Shane Tuck to play on Hall – Tucky can play key backman role and across half back.  Problem is taking away a key midfielder to go down back.

Just general chit-chat this week.

Re Daniel Ward kicking the wrong way, Terry says there’s a couple of current coaches have done it, ie Sheeds and himself in his VFA days.

Terry’s Team of the Week

B -  Johncock, Dale Morris, M Whelan
HB – Milburn, Harley, Bartram
C – B Stanton, S Goodwin, Goodes
HF – Aker, Riewoldt, Burton
F – Farmer, Robertson, Pavlich
R – Ottens (boo), Judd, J Johnson
Int – Moody, Bell, D Cross, McLeod

Viewer poll –  Would other clubs pick up Gardiner

Yes 55%
No 45%

Who was the best first year out of Raines and Deledio?  Brett Deledio because he starred in his first year – Raines hadn’t played many games but came good in his third year in the system.

Rodan – playing good footy at reserve level.  Chaffey needs a few more games in 2s.

On Joel's replacement – Kel Moore probably to continue on from last week.  Didn’t say who would be bringing in to replace Joel.
