Where's Carlton getting all this money from for these development plans for Princes Park?  ???

Quote
Carlton Unity, the proposed new ticket to head up the Carlton Football Club, has unveiled plans for a $106 million redevelopment of Princes Park, which will include the cost of construction ($80 million) and the value of the completed project.

"We will remove the Legends Stand - a very substantial part of the Legends Stand will come down - and then part of the Pratt Stand will come down and then you will see that we'll be able to view diagonally right across from the parkland."

"It is proposed that these new facilities will be fully accessible to the whole community.

Blues far worse off than Fitzroy was

Blues: We're far worse than Fitzroy
30 January 2007   Herald-Sun
Mark Stevens

CARLTON is in a more perilous financial state than a dying Fitzroy and at risk of being merged or shipped off interstate.

That is the blunt assessment of the Blues' own finance director, Marcus Rose.

"Carlton's financial position is far worse than that of Fitzroy that was swallowed by Brisbane and sent interstate in the 1990s," Rose said.

"If the club does not make dramatic changes to improve its income generation, but continues to rely on the same things it has been doing, it runs the risk of either being amalgamated with another team or forced interstate by the AFL."

The AFL should now step in and orchestrate a Merger between Carlton and North Melbourne. They can call themselves Carlton-North and have the Kangaroos as there emblem, based out of princess park. North are stuffed this is a chance for them to get a future in the game as for Carlton...well no one forced them to build stands etc. they should have purchased pubs and gaming establishments instead where you actually get a return for your money.

Not in Richmond's interests to create a Victorian super-club even if it's between dud sides like Carlton and North.   A 40k member debt-free opposition Victorian club with Hansen at CHF fed by Murphy and Gibbs would cut into our market share both on and off field. That's why we voted against the Fitzroy-North merger in 1996. Better for us if they both relocate.

The NSW Blues based in Sydney has a nice ring to it  :yep.

Blues are president-less

According to SEN, Graham Smorgan has been voted out in the Carlton board elections. The Blues now have a mixed board with 4 people from the opposing ticket getting in along with 6 current board members plus the two not up for election which includes Kernahan. Looks like more turmoil ahead for the bluebaggers lol.

Thank goodness we were decisive in ours.
