Up there with the smartest player I’ve ever watched in my time watching the game.
Out of interest HRT who would be second IYO?

There’s a cluster that I can split but always loved Diesel Williams.
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

Some players make the ball obey them ... Jack is one of those.
Peter Hudson also told the ball what to do ... now Jack is overtaking him ...    :bow

Sorry mate but Hudson and Jack are poles apart. I find it amazing that any one could put em in the same group.
That is no slurr on JR but Hudson was an absolute freak and if not for knee injuries would have been the greatest full forward of all time imo.He just kept on kicking goals no matter what.

Ironic  how it panned out Both Hudson and Hart the two greatest Tassie fwds produced imo. were both cut down by knee injuries Hudsons basically costing 5 seasons when he was in his prime.
Still in his his 129 games he kicked 727 goals at what is still unbeaten by anyone an average of 5.64 goals a game.

Two different types of players, you're right Huson was a freak, could read the drop of the ball like no one else,  Jack is a football genius can read tha play like I've never seen before.

I was "lucky" enough to play in an exhibition match in Lonny back in 1983 against a Tassy Superules Rep team.  Huddo was flown by chopper from Hobart to York Park as it was back then,. He landed at the ground at 1/2 time,  he was overweight, unfit, couldn't run & still kicked 6 goals in the last half.  I was mesmerized by his reading of the fall of the ball. Being able to be in position for the ball to just fall into his hands, freakish. I've never seen anything like it before or since.

But Jack is a much smarter player, head reads the play much better & could play in other positions, whereas Huddo was far more limited as to where he could play, he was very slow.

Ironically Hydro should have played for the Tigers but the Hawks trumped us.

I agree. Hudson was a freak. Saw him play a comeback match at artic park after he had one of his knee injuries. He redid the knee in the first 5 minutes and eventually went off at half time. But on one leg in 2 quarters he kicked 8 goals. An absolute freak indeed.

Heat on Riewoldt to save career amid struggles

Already in the twilight of career, Jack Riewoldt’s form is creating a huge problem for Richmond. He’s one of the big names on notice ahead of a huge weekend of football.

This Jack draws level with that Jack for games played this weekend.

311 in total.

Equal second all time.

Still 92 games short of KB!

What a champion.

I love the salty Oppo supporters too. There's no denying this man's greatness.

Jack Riewoldt (312 games) now ahead of Jack Dyer on our all-time games list. Only KB has played more games for Richmond.

Jack is also now 4th on the all-time list for goals at the M.C.G.

Riewoldt’s valuable three-goal return in Richmond’s 23-point victory over the Hawks took him past Bartlett (379), as well as former North Melbourne superstar Wayne Carey (380), and into fourth place on that list.

He has kicked a total of 382 goals at the MCG, with only Melbourne’s David Neitz 386, Essendon’s Matthew Lloyd 461, and Tigers great Matthew Richardson 464, ahead of him.

Well he'd finish 3rd of all time then you'd think. Highly esteemed company.

A very humble Jack Riewoldt on becoming outright second on Richmond's all-time games played list

Think he'll be in that #2 spot a while myself

I remember him as a kid and I couldn't be more proud too

I had a bit (a very little bit) to do with Jack when he first came to Melbourne and started his AFL journey at Coburg.

Can honestly say he has not changed

Congrats,  he's a champion of our Club
