Anyone else clicking on Riewoldt headlines expecting the story to be about Jack?
:lol

I did this morning. I went to realfooty and clicked the link with "Riewoldt" in the heading not even thinking it could be about Nick  :wallywink. Nick is now known as the Coleman medal leader's cousin lol.

Barry Hall has kicked 6 and it's only the 3rd quarter. Bloody useless Carlton defence lol.

Hall finished with 6.

The great thing about Jack compared statistically to other goalkickers:

* His conversion rate is elite in terms of the competition
* His tackling stats are nothing short of amazing given that some of the other goalkickers spend periods on the ball (Franklin, Pavlich etc) and haven't got numbers like his.
* His contested mark numbers are better than anyone

The fact his contested marks are so high suggests there is a lot more output to come when our forward structure is working, where you would expect more chest marks.

Agree Jack. What makes Jack so dangerous is he is as good a ground level player as he is a contested marker in a pack. He plays tall and small. I'm try to think of another high goalscoring 195cm key forward that's ever played similarly to Jack and it's difficult to think of one.

I always thought he would come good but I didn't realise he was gonna be this good.  Ill take it!
Same

Me too. He's a gun - you go to the footy to watch him, that grab in the last qtr was sublime.

carey , Jono brown, or his cousin would all be content with that effort

Medal punters jump on Jack Riewoldt

RICHMOND spearhead Jack Riewoldt will this morning become the odds-on favourite to win the Coleman Medal.

Riewoldt's staggering recent goal haul has TAB Sportsbet set to turn him in from last week's $2 quote, with the 21-year-old clear top of the goalkicking table with 58 majors.

He was $501 after Round 8, but his form explosion means he is on track for a 95-goal season.

Riewoldt's seven-match stretch of 43 goals brings back memories of Brian Taylor's 41 goals for the Tigers in seven games in 1984.

Yesterday, Taylor said the Tiger army was officially on the march after Richmond's win against Fremantle gave the Tigers four consecutive victories for the first time since 2005.

"It's incredible. I have been there in a successful period between the late 1970s and early 1980s and it's truly remarkable to wake that big beast up, because it will set the AFL alight," he said.

"It's the next big team we need to fire. We have seen Carlton, Essendon and Collingwood have their opportunities, but to add that extra dimension of angriness, we need to see Richmond supporters going off."

TAB Sportsbet's Gary Davies said Riewoldt continued to shorten as James Podsiadly, Steve Johnson and Matthew Pavlich fell off the pace.

"It's becoming a two-horse race between him and Barry Hall now. The fact they have cleared out means he has come from $2 into odds-on," Davies said.

"It is staggering because as late as Round 8 we had him at 500-1. With their draw coming up, there is nothing to say he won't continue to kick four or five goals a game, and that will win him the Coleman Medal."

Taylor yesterday urged some restraint in judging Riewoldt.

"I hope it's sustainable. I have got a question mark about whether it is because five weeks ago we said he was the No. 2 or 3 forward, and all of a sudden we are thinking he's the next (Michael) 'Disco' Roach," he said. "We shouldn't set our expectations too high."

BT on 3aw still won't consider Jack the real deal  ::). Said it was only 6 weeks ago that all of them on 3aw agreed Jack was just a 3rd forward and that as he is in the "funnel" opposition sides will clog him up and our scoring will dry up.

Just on the Coleman Medal race, Barry Hall is out for the next 1-2 weeks with an ankle injury.

I was happy when I read that MT - means JR still has a point to prove.

Serves the Bulldogs right for playing him. They absolutely smashed the Blues and didn't need Hall, he was under an injury cloud and now he'll be out as they push for a Top 4 spot.
Go JR8, the Coleman is all yours for the taking.

Seriously this guy has just exploded out of nowhere, kind of like when you haven't rooted for a month. Just massive
na not true jack had a decent yr last yr and the yr before that hes been building but people didnt want to see it.
hes competed in the air like this before  but  just got no recognition. he was held to what 2 goals to half time against freo but he created others just by ensuring the ball came to ground. he has done this a fair bit his whole career.

Has 2 weeks to put a decent gap between himself and Hall. If he kicks say 10 to 12 goals during the next 2 weeks he will win the Coleman.

Lets just get to the end of the season before we put any tags & medals on him
Gee let the team develope. All this talk labeling certain players champions & winning this & that is silly.
There is alot of developement & team plans so everyone becomes involved kicking goals.

Yes but its good to get excited about success and possibilities while we can too. We've had very little to celebrate or hope for for so long so even though you are 100% right, even the chance that someone from our team will be the best at anything, is worth celebrating!  :thumbsup
