RICHMOND has promoted rookies Jake King and Cameron Howat ahead of Sunday's clash with Carlton.
Given the Tigers' injury concerns, both are a strong chance to step straight into the senior line-up for the club's season-opener.
Richmond coach Terry Wallace last night confirmed Howat and King were likely to be in the final squad of 25.
"We haven't decided whether they will play yet," Wallace said.
"They have been excellent and deserve an opportunity."
The two spots on the main list opened up after Mark Coughlan and Carl Peterson were placed on the long-term injury list.
Coughlan (knee reconstruction) is out for the season and Peterson, drafted last year, is listed as an "indefinitely" out with a groin injury.
Howat, 22, played the final five games for the Tigers last season.
The hard-running midfielder appears capable of becoming a senior regular this year.
King, 23 yesterday, was a co-winner of Coburg's best-and-fairest in the VFL last year.
Despite measuring in at only 174cm and 74kg, he is a hard-at-it defender.
