Summary - 13/7/09
They replayed Lloyd saying tonight that Sheeds lost the older players in the last 4-5 years. Tactically they struggled.
Caro said that's no surprise as Essendon let him go. She said legendary coaches are given more leeway at clubs and a few more years than they should.
Thomas said not to confuse his time at Essendon with going for a new job. He still thinks Sheeds is capable. Hutchy said he disagrees with Caro.
Caro said she disagreed with that strongly. She said Sheeds had must have known deep down he wasbn't wanted as coach. She called him selfish for putting his hand up. He has 3 previous lucrative offers to come to Richmond and rejected them.
Thomas said Matthews left Collingwood and won 3 flags at Brisbane. Caro said what about at the end of his time at Brisbane.
Caro said sheeds gave Lloyd and Essendon a whack on the way out in his book and he's now given Richmond a whack.
Lyon said Sheeds' comments about him and Melbourne is a straight out lie. It's sad that he fabricated a story for such a legend. Lyon still thinks he can coach.
Caro feels for March. He's made some mistakes but he's tried to get the club back on track and follow a process.
The stuff on a certain radio station this week (KB and Patrick Smith on SEN) was a soap opera. Something dreamt up in their minds believing it was true when it wasn't.
Thomas said Sheeds is playing all of you on the break.
Lyon said that's fine but if your integrity is questioned by him stating things as facts then that's wrong. Thomas said it was just and opinion piece.
Caro then said that civil war at Richmond talk .... oh please!
On Bucks - Hutchy believes he won't be assistant coach at Collingwood. He's either be a senior coach or assistant coach at another club. Caro believes Mick and Bucks are too head strong to work together.
Hutchy doesn't believe Collingwood know what they are doing with Malthouse. Caro feels Eddie has backed Mick at the start of the season and is following a process more than previously.
On tanking - Caro believes Melbourne should win games on end. They have the young talent and don't need to chase the No.1 pick. Lyon, Hutchy and Thomas disagreed. Lyon said the heart says win but the head says otherwise. No one remembers Melbourne's win over Carlton in 2007 but it potentially cost the Demons Kreuzer, Watts and Naitanui or Rich. Hutchy says the only business decision for Melbourne is to not win more than 4 games.
