They played tonight a radio clip of Hird saying that Gieschen rang him up a few weeks ago to tell him the umpiring would be different and then the umpires in the Dreamtime game went into the Essendon rooms pre-game to tell the Bombers they would only be paying clear cut free kicks that night and would let the rest go.

You would hope we were given the same courtesy prior to the game.

How quaint of them.  And yet the week before we couldn't breath on someone without giving away a free.  This is how they stuff with us.  They set us up to play soft, so we are too scared to act for giving frees away then tell the bummers to go hog wild LOL

Good ol' Lloydy reckons GWS should offer Jack the same amount of cash as Buddy ($1 million p.a.) to poach him .

Caro repeated that Richmond won't pay what Jack wants even though she doesn't know the dollar amounts involved and as a "Richmond person" she is afraid of GWS circling. She added Richmond under Dan Richardson want to avoid repeating the mistakes of the past when the handed over big $$$ to Richo, Cambo, Daffy and Knights to keep them even when the team was failed onfield. Effectively pushing the Geelong model of the playing group taking collective cuts to keep the team together. Caro brought up Leigh Matthews showing the Brisbane players a photo of the Hawthorn sides of the 80s and how they stuck together and became known as champion players. She reckons we overpaid to keep Dusty. Hutchy's response was that GWS's interest in Jack is a red herring as they already have Cameron and Patton and will gain Boyd in this year's draft.

As for us actually winning on the weekend, the only mention of that was about Lids not being tagged and Lyon saying he knew it was game over as soon as Lids, loose on his own across HB, marked the Adelaide clearance from the first bounce of the game. Lyon also said when talking to Caro about contracts that Richmond looks like finally playing finals for the first time in a long time.

This show is simply horrendous. Has there ever been a more irritating panel than this assortment of tools?

Tonight's segment on the Tigers:

Caro still sees us as vulnerable as far as dropping out. She says we've still shown our mental fragility at times during the season. Looking at our draw she sees 'only' 3 'certain' wins - St Kilda, Brisbane and GWS. She says North always play well against Richmond, Gold Coast has beaten Richmond on both occasions in Cairns and although Richmond beat Carlton in round 1 it'll be a tough game against the Blues. Freo, Hawthorn and Sydney will be tough to win on current form. So all up that'll only give Richmond 11 wins.

Lloyd replied that we will make the Eight. He said at the start of the year that Richmond won't make the finals but he's changed his mind now. Richmond is too good a side to miss the finals. The midfield depth will be what carries Richmond this year. Lyon agreed. They both mentioned the additions of Houli (Lloyd said a mistake by Essendon), Grigg (Collins isn't playing so a great trade for Richmond), Conca (showing why he was taken so early in the draft).

Barrett repeated we've lost badly to the top sides. Caro replied there was a one point loss to Freo in Perth but the losses to the Pies, Cats and Bombers were bad. Caro finished with saying that we were more likely than unlikely to make the finals.

Caro didn't like Kingy having a go at Goodes on the weekend about ducking. This stems from Jack's free from ducking last week against the Crows and Rob Murphy criticizing it midweek.

Lloyd reckons Geelong won't win the flag because they are conceding too many points playing Russian roulette footy. The rest of the top sides (including us) have the best defensive records. As the old saying you need the best defence to win the flag.

Jack definitely doesn't mind playing for free kicks occasionally, but I reckon on that occasion he was trying to evade by slipping back under that bloke. I think he was surprised he got that free.
