the afl must bring a lottery system in , 2 groups, top 8 a nd bottom 8

bottom eight will get their draft order picked out of a hat, followed by the top 8

all done random, has nothing to do with ladder position and no priority picks

or why not give 9th 1st pick
10th 2nd pick
11th 3rd pick etc

that would stop tanking completely

I think just get rid of priority picks.

The big issue is that the Blues get pick one and three if they tank successfully. No-one gives a shi'te if Melbourne tank.

Or have the priority picks start at pick 9, so the bottom 8 teams get from pick 1-8, then priorities, then the top 8 get to pick.
And you may not think I care for you

Totally sick of this, blown out of all proportion to be honest.
And these Officials and ex players say they want to lose = loser mentality which I hope rubs of on the whole team for many years to cum.

Who knows WTF the first picks in the draft r gunna turn out like.

Mate how much pressure is on this Vodka dude if he gets picked first.

Hope we rape StKilda and then WGAF .

Just pized Scum will get 2 picks in top 3

Failure should be rewarded with ONE pick but this priority crap makes it a joke.

Blues' Matthew Lappin retiring from AFL
The Age
August 29, 2007 - 3:34PM

Carlton veteran Matthew Lappin has announced his retirement from the AFL effective immediately.

Captain Lance Whitnall is in doubt to play Melbourne on Sunday because of his knee problem while half-back Heath Scotland is also in doubt because of a corked thigh.

Ratten dismissed speculation the Blues would be better off losing to Melbourne to secure the No.l pick in the national draft.

Ratten said he was preparing his team to win and said his players took no notice of the Tanking speculation.

I'd go:

9th 1st pick
16th 2nd
15th 3rd

That would stop it and make it fair to the bottom sides.

Blues, Demons 'will play to win'
2:21 PM Fri 31 August, 2007
AAP

AFL CHIEF executive Andrew Demetriou remains convinced that Melbourne and Carlton will do all they can to win Sunday's twilight MCG clash.

There is widespread speculation about whether Carlton in particular will "tank" to maximise their draft selections.

"I'm sure they'll be genuinely wanting to win, there's too much at stake for players who are playing for their careers, as are coaches," Demetriou told Southern Cross broadcasting.

"I'm not going to deny that there are people out there who think it's a good thing that their team will lose but I can assure you of this, if you are relying on a priority draft pick to save your football club you are delusional.

"There's much more to winning games than a priority pick."
