Underwhelming to say the least looking at that. Some solid footballers picked up in that lot but only Cam Bruce and Robbo (who was already on their list prior to 1998) would have been called A-graders.

They've given up a few players who've become good players. Simmo, Scott, Thompson (who wanted to go home), Bishop, Jolly.

The only thing that is really positive and far superior to Richmond is the number of rookies they've had that have made it over the past 10 years. Made up for some ordinary early draft picks. But with Foley, Thursty and King we've done alright with our rookies in the past 2-3 years after wasting it for so long.

The Dees recruiting was criticized in the Herald-Sun today for failing to find KP defenders since they made the 2000 GF.

I agree that Hine has a better record and seems to have a good eye. Id prefer Hine to Cameron.

Brock McLean is probably the only Demon we'd be interested in poaching as he's a young inside midfielder although the Demons would never let him go.

Colin Sylvia played the best game I've seen him play last night given all the hype when he was drafted but we already have similar types to him on our list already. Same with Bate. We don't need another midfielder with no right foot. Nathan Jones has done fairly well this year given his young age and experience. The rest of the Melbourne midfield is their old brigade.

Didnt McLean sign a 3 year deal last year to stay at the demons?

Look here Moi, The Sheedy thing is well before Wallace even got to Richmond.
Lets move on shell we.

But I reckon that's part of the problem.

It would appear to me a tleast that at the end of 2004 when we appointed Wallace that we had moved on from the "sheedy come home to Richmond" soap opera that has been running close to 20 odd years now (5 year contracts sort of sends that message).

Clearly in the eyes of some (those who I refer to the faceless ones) they have not as this old (and might I say now very boring) chestnut reappears. They bring out their big spoons to stir their equally big pots because they are driven by their massively oversized egos!

As for Craing Cameron - if that's who the RFC are targeting then that is fine too if they believe he is the best person for the job but I think to suggest or imply that Wallace wouldn't be aware of it or that Cameron is going to come based on there being a change of coach is too bizzarre even for our Club ::)

No further news on us and Craig Cameron but another Demon employee has left their footy department with Chris Fagan resigning as Melbourne's general manager of football operations to take up a coaching and player development role with Hawthorn.

Richmond poised to recruit top recruiter
Caroline Wilson | November 28, 2007 | The Age

RICHMOND has waited until after the national draft to secure one of the most highly regarded recruiters in the AFL in one of at least two high-profile appointments to be announced next week.

The Age understands that long-time Melbourne talent scout Craig Cameron has all but sealed a deal with the Tigers to take over the club's recruiting and list management with a view to ultimately handling player contracts as well.

Although Cameron committed to the Demons along with Melbourne's then football manager Chris Fagan one year ago to a three-year term, he is expected to exercise a three-month departure clause in his contract, as Fagan did back in August when he announced he was moving to Hawthorn.

The Tigers, who have been criticised for their recruiting in recent years, have been seeking a new senior football executive to take over the club's recruiting and list management, with Greg Miller slowly leaving that job although remaining at the helm of the club's football department for now.

Cameron was an early favourite of the board, given his impressive credentials, which were bolstered by the fact that he grew up a passionate Tigers supporter, the son of former Richmond player and life member Barry Cameron.

Cameron is believed to have broached the subject of his departure with senior Melbourne personnel but was unwilling to leave the Demons before completing the national and pre-season drafts. He was not available for comment yesterday but is understood to be close to negotiating a term of at least three years at Richmond.

The club is also on the verge of appointing a human resources executive to oversee the club's player development, along with that of all club staff, in a bid to improve the psychological profile of the club's list. It is understood the new position will be filled by a senior official from the Australian Institute of Sport.

Cameron will oversee Richmond's recruiting but the club will also retain the services of recruiting manager Francis Jackson.

I wouldn't have thought so X. He has always said he's spread too thin. I think you are going to have to put up with Miller for a while yet.

If those players fail and Miller's role is not exclusively to do with trading or recruiting then I do not see that his position is under threat. He is moving himself away from that area, something I am sure you are pleased about, so I can't see Miller being forced to go anywhere. Personally I feel it is a bit of a stretch to blame Miller exclusively for the teams performance and any bad (or good) recruiting decisions. I do not have the sort of inside information that would allow me to make that sort of call. The information I have is mainly rumours and scuttlebutt I read on these boards which, though interesting, I take with a grain of salt.

It is far too early to write Morton, McMahon or JON off yet especially since 2 of them haven't even played a game for us yet. If this is the only criticism of Miller then I can only see his position as safe and he won't be going anywhere unless he decides too.
