Tigers vs Bombers R21 "blockbuster" - Caro
« on: July 28, 2007, 03:46:04 AM »
From the Age | Caroline Wilson | July 28, 2007

KEVIN SHEEDY'S will be some farewell tour.... the round-21 Richmond game at the MCG could yet become a fully ticketed affair.

The Tigers and the Bombers will meet next week to brainstorm what now looms as a blockbuster of Anzac Day proportions.

While Denis Pagan was pushed unceremoniously and without emotion from Carlton one- and-a-quarter seasons early, Sheedy - who too was pushed - will ride out waving on a cavalcade. There will not be a dry eye in the house.

Just 25,000 tickets left to be sold

Sheedy farewell Fed square plans

ESSENDON and Richmond's Round 21 blockbuster could be shown live on the big screen at Federation Square.

Bomber officials have held talks with Fed Square chiefs about showing a live telecast against the gate.

The MCG showdown is expected to be Kevin Sheedy's final Melbourne match in charge of his beloved Bombers.

It could also be former skipper James Hird's last AFL appearance in Victoria, unless the Bombers make the finals after their upset victory against Adelaide yesterday.

A sell-out crowd of up to 95,000 is tipped for the twilight clash on Sunday, August 26, with just 25,000 tickets still to be sold.

Sheedy played 251 games with the Tigers from 1967-79, including three premierships, before joining Essendon where he has coached for 27 seasons.

His last match will be against the Eagles in Perth in Round 22.

Essendon would need approval from the AFL and the game's broadcaster, Fox Sports.

No, they are definitely shared, due to the "dreamtime agreement", with both matches for the year divided. It should be a huge windfall for the club.

It seems the RFC is the only one who doesn't believe the Essendon game will be ticketed  ???

Richmond V Essendon Ticket Update

The Round 21 clash between Richmond and Essendon has not as yet been a declared ticketed game.

At this stage, those with a 17-game RFC membership will be able to attend the game and enter with their 2007 membership card. Further information will be posted on the Club's website if the situation changes.

Not so MT _ I spoke to Ticketmaster last week and they told me it wasn't as yet ticketed but to purchase tickets quickly - make of that what you will  :-\

Having a bet each way  ???. Maybe they mean the GA areas are selling quickly as opposed to the MCC, AFL members, etc areas.

This could be an anticlimax if the speculation about Hird being injured again is true. Hird hardly trained today.

He wont miss the Richmond game, even if he plays 10 minutes he will be on the ground.
