I think this game was a massive example of what we are still capable of, our consistency is just off which is absolutely fair enough with a banged up tired side going deep into nearly November last year still playing footy. 3/4 flags. I think mentally a lot a pretty cooked and need a long rest and without travel and getaways with restrictions hurts recovery in off season.

I think we'd be crazy to push Trent on, I think with a big restful break and a refresh on our depth, we can be really damaging in 2022, 2021 may be too hard a climb. Wonderful win and who knows but I think we still have best to come.

Cotchin single handedly carried us to last year’s flag. It was him who stood up last year while our coach was working through his personal situation.
He is mentally cooked.
Given those circumstances, it’s perfectly ok to assume his having a down year.
I’m backing him in to come back in 2022 after a decent break.
“I find it nearly impossible to make those judgments, but he is certainly up there with the really important ones, he is certainly up there with the Francis Bourkes and the Royce Harts and the Kevin Bartlett and the Kevin Sheedys, there is no doubt about that,” Balme said.

Yep. I look at blokes like the Selwood, S Mitchell. If those guys could still make an impact with their lack of speed, I can't understand why Cotch can't next year.

I'm tipping him to lift In dustys absence, which will carry into 2022.

Cotch playing sore (he only played 69% of the match) and it's showing in his disposal efficiency. Lowest today at just 47.4%.

However, he won 4 out of our 7 centre clearances. So he needs help from others.

19 disposals (15k, 4h, 7c, 9u, 47.4% eff.)
5 marks
4 tackles
6 clearances (4 centre clearances)
4 inside 50s
369m gained
3 score involvements
1 goal
69% time on ground.

Selwood & Mitchell have never had to carry a shyte side and a crap midfield like Cotchin did for pretty much the entire first half of his career... :shh

Very very poor showing from the cap.  Uncharacteristic

Is it though? He’s been sub standard all year.

He gets 20 touches on a good day.

He’s a legend but he’s well past it.

Think he has something to offer. I mean Selwood is slow as is de boer and they still impact.

How many years left on his contract? That's the important question.

Media were on Cotch’s case 5 weeks ago. Past month he’s averaged 24 disposals, 4 marks, 4 clearances, 4 tackles + 4 inside 50s. Looking forward to him leading from the front again tonight! #gotiges

Trent Cotchin is showing that, despite being in the twilight of his magnificent AFL career, he can still find plenty of ball.

The inspirational 31-year-old, triple Richmond premiership captain racked up 30-plus disposals for the second time in three games, against Greater Western Sydney at Marvel Stadium last Friday night.

In trademark tough, tenacious, courageous style, he constantly threw his body into the fray, extracted the ball, and dished it out to teammates.

Cotchin finished the match with 31 disposals, a game-high 15 contested possessions, eight clearances, four inside-50s, five marks, five intercepts, six score involvements and 383 metres gained.

The last time Cotchin had 30 touches or more in a match, before that 32-disposal display against the Dockers, was in Round 1, 2019 v Carlton at the MCG (31 disposals).

Trent Cotchin will miss Richmond's final game with a PCL injury

By Sarah Black

RICHMOND skipper Trent Cotchin has suffered a sprained PCL in his knee and will miss the final round of the season against Hawthorn.

Despite suffering the injury in the second quarter of the loss to GWS which practically ended Richmond's finals hopes, the 31-year-old was one of Tigers' best on a disappointing night.

Cotchin finished the game with 31 disposals, eight clearances and a game-high 15 contested possessions.

He is contracted next year and has been in good touch of late after a form dip, averaging 26 disposals and 5.5 clearances in his last month of footy.
