Richmond has broken its pre-Christmas membership record . . .
As at close of business yesterday (Tuesday, December 18), the Tigers had 13,341 members.
That figure eclipses the previous pre-Christmas record of 13,040, which was set in 2006.
The Club is not only 6% ahead in membership numbers compared to this time last year, it is 3% up in non-ticketed memberships and 1.5% ahead in reserved-seat sales.
“Given we went to the market a week and a half later this year due to the AFL fixture release date, this is a fantastic result,” said Richmond’s General Manager, Consumer Marketing, Trent Jacobs.
“The increase appears to be across the board in all key categories, which is particularly pleasing and a testament to the loyalty of our supporters.
“We believe that the overall outlook for the Club is very bright, and I think this response indicates our members can see the direction we’re taking.
“There has been some strong off-field news coming out of Tigerland in recent times, with some good internal appointments, as well as the plans for the Punt Road re-development and the alignment to Craigieburn as a secondary training venue and community initiative, and this also would have played a part in the membership increase up to Christmas.
“In 2008, when we celebrate our Centenary of VFL/AFL football, we will have some great activities for our members to be involved with, and we are looking forward to many more coming on-board in the New Year and enjoying the whole experience.”
