Would it be too hard for the Herald-Sun to contact the club directly to get the latest membership tallies. I guess it's not all their fault as the RFC website has an old figure from February up.

Fan Base - Vic clubs

Essendon    35,304
Coll'wood    32,545
Carlton       30,856
Geelong      28,800
Hawthorn    28,340
St Kilda       25,222
Kangaroos   24,481
Richmond    22,600 (sic) - 24,363
Bulldogs      20,430
Melbourne   19,400

As per my early post on another topic, I was CORRECT!
Only Dogs and Demons below us, oh year, we are a real powerhouse club  NOT. some people here are deluded.

Add the 6,248 non-ticketed members, which the media don't count because we separate them and do count for other clubs because they don't separate them, and we are 4th on the membership ladder.
That's up there with.....let's see......oh yeah, Carl-Coll-Ess.

That's the second time you've had to explain to him, Fish.
He ain't listening.
He'd rather gloat that we're coming near last.
Pathetic.

In all seriousness it is something the AFL needs to address. They should make the rules regarding membership numbers very clear (actually they are clear  :P) but more than that they should be enforcing the rules.

I note in the article from the web-site that it said 7k members from last year haven't re-signed.... why :-\ and what are their lame excuses  :rollin :rollin :rollin

A lot of those 7k Tiger supporters wait until round 1 or our first home game to re-sign up.

A club like ours should be minimum 40,000 members. When we come good I think its possible for us to do between 60000 and 65000. People think thats an extraordinary number, but we are a big club and if we could ever get some success, our big rivals will be left behind in a big way in terms of members.

agree. people forget how strong we once were. supporters are there they just choose to stay away in recent times considering what we have dished up.
finals 2 years in a row, much like what the hawks have done and anything over 50000 is achievable, without a doubt
